William Wakelin Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William Thomas Wakelin. Bill, as we all knew him, passed away peacefully in the early hours of October 23rd, 2012 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Predeceased by: his parents Roy and Emily Wakelin; sister Margie and brother Richard; in-laws Gus and Freda Gruber; brother Alan; and sister-in-law Carey; Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry; his two children Bev Charest (Jason), Curtis (Kim); and his wonderful granddaughter Sophia Charest. He also leaves to mourn: brothers Don, Warren (Judy); sister Helen Pidwerbeski (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Debbie Kelly (Tom), Darlene (Don) Dumont, and Judy Gruber; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bill was an avid camper and enjoyed fishing at the local lakes. His real passion was his love of music. He loved to play the guitar with family and friends and tried to teach the bass guitar to his wife. Bill was also mastering the art of playing his steel guitar. He enjoyed life to the fullest, especially time spent with his kids. Bill will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on November 3rd, 2012 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the tea room at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. In accordance with Bill's wishes, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Bill may do so in the name of Sherry Wakelin with a notation "The William T. Wakelin Memorial Grandchild Education Fund".
