Bill was born in Concord, NH to the late Joseph and Florence (Venne) Walsh. He was raised and educated in Concord, where he attended St John's High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served four years on the USS Norris. Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. for reunions with former shipmates.

Following the service, he earned a Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University followed by a Master's Degree from Cambridge College. Bill enjoyed a long career as a salesman in both the pharmaceutical and automotive industries. He was also an adjunct professor at Northeastern's School of Continuing Education for many years. In his retirement, he enjoyed part time jobs as both a court officer and a substitute teacher.

Bill was a talented wood carver, as evidenced by his award winning birds and ducks. He was a voracious reader, who also enjoyed gardening, golfing and most especially a good game of cribbage, which he passed on to both his children and grandchildren. A lifelong New England sports fan, in his later years he also became an ardent fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He coached youth basketball and baseball for his children's teams while raising his family in Quincy, MA and served as a high school and college football official in both NH and MA for many years. Bill was a former member of the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and the Lions Club International, where for many years played the role of Santa Claus for Lions Club events.

Beloved husband of thirty-five years of Donna J.(Blanchard) Walsh. Devoted father of Kathleen Wynters (Chuck) of Waltham MA and Naples FL; Maureen Walsh (Tamara) of Warwick RI; and William F Walsh, Jr (Mary Beth) of Waltham MA. Loving and Proud grandfather of Annie Wynters (Chelsea), Charles Wynters (Casey), Kennedy Walsh and Mackenzie Walsh and great-grandfather of Sydney June Wynters. He is also survived by in-laws Diane Cahill (John), Robert Blanchard (Dawn) and Christopher Blanchard (Betsy); former brother in law Daniel Alvino Jr (Florence); many loving nieces, nephews and Godchildren; and his "Florida family" at Kings Point in Sun City Center. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brothers John A Walsh of Concord NH and James E Walsh of Nashua NH.
