To my dear cousins, the Wards,
I just became aware of this guest book and wanted to make sure you knew how much I respected and admired your dad. My mother and uncle jack use to tell me of his heroics (and antics) as we were growing up, although my perception of him was never quite the rough and tumble guy they spoke of.We were especially proud of his being named the "best cop" in Pittsburgh in the late 70's. I'm sure he was also in contention for being "best dad" as well. He will be missed by all..

To the Ward Family: I was so sad to hear of your Father's passing. He was a fine gentleman, and a wonderful story teller. I often visited with him when I lived next door, and always found him to be a delight. In fact my son Nick, now seventeen, enjoyed his company as much as I did. God Bless you all.

I worked with Bill for a few years at old #4 Station in Oakland as his clerk, and no one could have had a better boss.



He was a very devout Catholic and I think he converted many to religion. Bill's character was never questioned.



He was truly an extraordinary person. Nothing was ever said bad about Our Bill.



Thanks for being a part of our lives, it was a pleasure to have known you. Heaven is writing for you to keep the gates open for us. You didn't make the Super bowl here, although you were a super guy, but we know you will make it up in Heaven.



God bless you until we meet again. With tears in my eyes I say, not good-bye, but so long Buddy.

Patrick and family. I am very sorry to hear of your Father's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is always difficult loosing a parent. Please trust in your faith and know that you will be together again.

There are no words that can describe the overwhelming sadness and loss I, and the many other lives you've touched and altered feel with your passing. You will not be one of the forgotten! As long as I can remember you were my silent strength; my purpose; my guiding light. I always felt so honored to be your daughter. As a little girl I idolized you; as an adult I so admired and respected you; and in death, I am in awe of you. I thank the God you loved so much for giving you to me. So, it is with bitter-sweet sorrow, I must say good-bye to you, my wonderous father, but not forever. I pray you were proud of me in life. I promise you will be prouder of me in death. Rest in peace for all time, with Jesus; Mary; and Joseph; mom (your beloved "Beverly"); and all the glorious saints.

To all of my family,



I wanted to let you all know that I really enjoyed seeing you, I just wish it was under different circumstances. I also wanted to thank all those who made the funeral service arrangements. I thought that it was very special to have Grandpap's grandchildren invloved with the service, and I consider it a true honor to have read at his funeral. Although distance has kept us all apart as we have gotten older, I have the fondest memories of Grandpa from my childhood and will remember and cherish them always. I have taken advice that he has given me over fifteen years ago and think about him when I do a certain habit every day. I hope that time will ease your pain and he will surely be missed.

To the Ward Family,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Inspector Ward. I worked for him on the Pittsburgh Police Department at Number Four Station on Semple Street in Oakland. He was a wonderful boss, very knowledgeable, always willing to teach and very fair. He taught me many things as a young officer in the early 1980's and beause of his influence, I believe I was the best officer that I could be. I often think of him, his great stories, his cigar and that smirk.

Pat...I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Although I did not know your father, I would judge by what I know of you that he was a very fine man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We will always remember Mr. Ward in our hearts and prayers. He was a good and God-fearing man who lived his faith. Always a fine example of propriety and wholesomeness to all around him, he will be sorely missed. I am sure that he and his dear Evelyn now walk with Our Lord. Rose and family..I am so very sorry for the passing of your Father. I know how much he meant to you, and how important you were to his life. Hopefully, the memories of the many good things will sustain you through this time.

I was very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I served with Bill on the Pittsburgh Police Department and he was a good cop as well as a gentleman. I am sure he will be missed by all. Since I am vacationing in Florida I will be unable to attend services, but my deepest sympathy's are with his family.

Death may have selfishly robbed us of the joys and blessings of his presence but not of the countless memories and spiritual impact of his absence. May he rest comfortably in the hollow of His hands.
