William "WildBill" Simpson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.
William "Bill" Simpson-known as "WildBill"-passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2025. He was 54. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 26, 1971.

Bill graduated from Countryside High School in 1989. He went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from St. Petersburg Junior College, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida, and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University.

Bill built a successful career in the medical billing industry, where he worked for nearly 30 years. He was more than a colleague, he was a mentor, a problem-solver, and a friend. Known for building creative solutions, Bill streamlined operations, saved significant labor costs, and helped clients unlock new value. He received numerous awards for his innovations, but his true legacy lies in the relationships he built and the lives he touched, including the many colleagues that are more like family and the clients that loved and respected him.

Bill was a dedicated husband and father. He loved his wife and kids more than life itself. He brought lots of love and laughter in the home with his sense of humor and big heart. His kids describe him as witty, funny, and loving. Bill was happiest when he was outdoors, whether it was fishing or caring for his pets, or grilling for his family and friends.

To know Bill was to love him. He had a larger-than-life personality and a magnetic passion for life that drew people in. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. His generosity extended far beyond the workplace. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as a Cub Scout leader for Pack 275 for five years, where he inspired young minds with the same energy and heart he brought to everything he did.

Bill's sense of humor was legendary. Whether it was his collection of quirky T-shirts, his elaborate Halloween costumes, or his perfectly timed jokes, he loved making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him. He was truly one-of-a-kind.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of over 25 years, Cynthia Zehr, and their children, Adam and Sara Simpson. He is also survived by his aunts, Vicky Beck, and Sandy Chadwick. His siblings: brother David (Tawjia) Simpson; sister Lori Summerlin; and sister Kati (Scott) Ford. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Savannah and Joel Thomas Summerlin; Anna Gonzalez (Roman) and their children Kenny Ward and Julia Gonzalez; Robert (Amberly) Simpson and their son Parker; Bryson Simpson; Madison (Trevor) Robinson and their children Cameron and Nova; Cassidy Mojica and her daughter Laylei; and Harrison Ford.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Mary Rogers, and his parents, Garry and Peggy Simpson.

Bill's legacy of laughter, leadership, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, the community, and the many lives he brightened along the way.

A celebration of life service will be held at Hodges Presbyterian Church, 4140 Hodges Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32224, on July 19, 2025, at 11 am.

I got to meet Bill few times before last year. I live in Seminole, and last year during the hurricane that came through pinellas county my wife didn´t feel safe staying home so we hit the kids and drove to Jacksonville, Bill and his family welcome us in his home with open arms. That´s when I had the opportunity to know Bill more me and Bill talk for hours and I discovered that he was a man of vision, overcomer, he love people, he will put the needs of others ahead of his, he love his children, a great friend, he also love animals a lot and had wild spirit it was a privilege that I got to know Bill. Rest in peace Bill.

Bill was a great person always full of life and energy. Enjoyed the time we spent creating state of the art medical software and taking it to trade shows. Knowing his mind was decades ahead of actual market. Remember hearing from hospitals wireless isn´t an option we can´t use tablets now 15 years later it´s the norm. Loved him like a brother along with all the crazy ideas he had. Rest in peace.

Bill was a heck of a guy. Real sense of humor. It's too bad that we didn't get to spend more time with him. He will surely be missed. We love you, Bill. Rest easy.
