WILLIAM DICE WOOD

BAY CITY - William Dice Wood, 86, passed away on November 16, 2012. Bill was born on June 6, 1926 in Elgin, Texas to the late George Pryor and Clara Ophelia Torrey Wood. Bill graduated from High School in Corpus Christi and from the University of Texas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He married Mildred LaFaye (Faye) Nicholas in Waynesboro, Mississippi and had been married for 61 years. Bill worked for 25 years for Socony Vacuum, which later became Mobil Oil, working in Venezuela, the Philippines, Australia, The Netherlands and England. He later went to work for NAPC in Northern Greece and then Union Texas Petroleum in Pakistan and Indonesia. Bill was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Knights Templar.
Bill is survived by his wife and four children, Janet Wood Hickl and Paul of Bay City, George Pryor Wood and Claudia of Austin, Ralph Rutledge Wood and Sarah of West Friendship, Maryland and Paul Nicholas Wood of Estonia; grandchildren Megan Hickl Pate and Adam of Sweeny, Adam Hickl of Victoria, Emily and Darcy Wood of West Friendship, Maryland and Emma Wood of Clive, Iowa; and sister Robbie Davis of Tyler.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A Graveside service with the family will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with Dr. Mark Stoub officiating.
