William Mckinney Yelvington

Lieutenant Colonel William McKinney Yelvington, aged 84, passed away on Monday June 17, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

William McKinney Yelvington was born on November 20,1939 in Palatka ,Florida, but grew up in Hastings,where he spent his formative years. He went on to receive his Bachelor's in Business Administration at Florida Southern College and later became a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years of active duty in the United States Air Force. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. He was awarded in D.C., top administrative officer for the Air Force in 1977.

But more than anything, William was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children, sharing stories, playing games, and watching their favorite TV shows. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.

In his free time, William enjoyed watching sports, playing solitaire and blackjack with his family in his man cave on the back porch, and was always eager to share his knowledge and crack a few jokes with others.

William is preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Townsend, his father William Yelvington, and his former wife Beverly Yelvington.

William is survived by his children William Yelvington Jr. (Autumn Yelvington), Brian Yelvington and his grandchildren, Garret Yelvington (Kerri Yelvington), Shade Yelvington (Ashtin Yelvington), Brianna Goldsmith (Josh Goldsmith), his great grandchildren Piper Goldsmith, Donovan Yelvington, Evee Goldsmith. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
