Willie Middlebrook (nee Horne) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26, 2022.
There is another angel in heaven watching over us. Our mum had a good life, she always made the most of her circumstances, forging beautiful human connections along the way. Willie's family was her most precious connection. She met Bill Middlebrook (predeceased) in Franklin Springs Georgia where they attended Emmanual College. Her sister Shelia Wildes lives on and she is predeceased by her brother Wayne Horne. She leaves behind her 4 children, Douglas, Kenneth, John and Shelia Middlebrook. She leaves behind 10 of her grandchildren: Karla and Michelle Middlebrook; Tom, Hannah and Maggie Jacques; Tyler, Mia, Cody, Jacob and Liam Middlebrook. She is with Jenna Leigh now.

Every morning , before getting out of bed, she prayed for all branches of the Middlebrook and Horne families-it was a long list but eventually she rose to start her day!

Her generosity knew no bounds. She befriended a street person Jon and would give him $20 once in awhile. She baked for the building. And, was always giving away furniture!

She worked hard and completed her university degree over an 11 year period. She applied herself steadfastly through the ups and downs of raising four children.

She found her calling helping developmentally disabled adults through Sally Cheung and family. This led her to the Meta Centre where she worked full time with clients in wheel chairs and developed an approach to sensory enrichment which was ahead of its' time.

Willie Mae, I´ve missed you every day since the news of your passing. Your authentic kindness and unwavering faith in the good of people will live on in everyone who was blessed enough to know you. The last time we walked together, you said something that I´ll always remember while you were enjoying your time. You said, "there´s just so much to notice". I promise to notice just like you did, in the simplest and most profound ways. I will miss our chats dearly, but I´m so thankful to have shared that time with you. I cherished every story and thought you shared and all of the reminders to love fiercely. Your voice is cemented in my mind. I´m a better person for having known you. Rest beautifully my dear friend.

For her children and grand-children:
Willie Mae was a history buff and part of her
history she shared with me was, when she first knew about and met Bill. First time she entered her college dorm room, on the wall was painted his name. Later she went to a football game and
cheered him on and Bill told me "her voice was booming" that's their history. Her second love was her dog "Bismarck", she loved and cared for Bismarck like he was her fifth child.
Ren.

I will always be grateful to Willie Mae for taking Sally to the Meta Centre once a week. She has always told me Sally is one of the people that impacted her life in a positive way. She remained a lifelong friend after we put Sally in a home. She had always been a friend before taking Sally to the Meta Centre, coming often to my father's restaurant for a coffee and a smoke, shooting the breeze with my father. She got to know all us kids, since we had to work in the restaurant. I will miss you Willie Mae.
