Willie Womack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2025.
Willie Willis Womack, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Born on March 27, 1937, in Clover, Virginia, Willie was the son of the late James Edwin and Josephine Noel (Ashby) Womack. He was raised in a tight-knit rural community and was the son of a tobacco farmer-a hardworking upbringing that taught him the values of responsibility, humility, and faith, which shaped the man he became.

Willie was the beloved husband of the late Angelina Marie (Bianchi) Womack, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and deep family roots. They raised four children: Lisa Wagner (Jeff), Jason Womack (Alisha), Rodney Womack (Maura), and Tiffany Bockus (Cory), and created a legacy that now includes eleven cherished grandchildren: Juliana, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jessica, Makayla, Olivia, Caleb, Mackenzie, Natalie, Caitlyn, and Shane.

Willie graduated from Halifax County High School's Class of 1955, played on the baseball team, and went on to serve in the United States Army before earning his bachelor's degree in Business from The Johns Hopkins University. He later enjoyed a long and successful career with AT&T, retiring in his 50s. In retirement, Willie enjoyed spending time with family, travel, and working in the yard.

One of Willie's favorite traditions was the annual family trip to Myrtle Beach. For over 40 years, he and his loved ones made that journey. This is a tradition his family will carry on. Those trips were more than vacations; they were lasting memories that brought generations together.

Willie had a deep and abiding faith and was a devoted member of Mason Dixon Baptist Church. His relationship with God was quiet, steady, and unwavering-an anchor that guided how he lived and how he loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina; a precious infant son, Kevin; his siblings James Edwin Womack Jr., Roy Lee Womack, Geraldine Josephine Angely, and John Henry Womack; and his parents. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, and by his brother, Reuben Womack, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

A public viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA, with a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Following the service, Willie will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.

April 3, 2025

I was fortunate to be in Willie Womack's Sunday School class for several years at Mason Dixon Baptist Church. I enjoyed Willie's sense of humor and candid remarks. He has been missed by his fellow classmates since he stopped attending our church in person. I am praying for Lisa, Jeff, and the family. Quintin Cornwell (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJV)
