Yola Iavarone On Sunday September 7, 2008, Yola Iavarone, age 89, a resident of Erie was taken to her Heavenly Father to join her beloved husband, Edmond S. Iavarone. She was born in Ellwood City, Pa. on September 16, 1918, the daughter of the late Vincent and Quintina Corsi Vitelli. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and belonged to their Altar Society. Yola had a love of music and dancing. Sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking for her family and friends were a major part of her life. Card club was one of her favorite get togethers with her many friends. She was affectionately known as the "Hat Lady", always wearing a sparkle filled sun hat outdoors. Besides her parents, Yola was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edmond, whom she married on September 18, 1937; a brother Leo Vitelli and his wife Laura; two sisters, Antoinette Grossi and Gina Esposito and husband Dominick. Yola is survived by a son Edmond J. Iavarone and his wife Thelma; and two daughters Louise Pilney and her husband Donald and Arlene Iavarone, all of Erie. She is further survived by seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Adam Grossi; special friends, Della & Jack and many other relatives. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dear Cousins Eddie, Louise and Arlene and their families,
What a sad day to lose the last of our Aunts. I will always remember Aunt Yola as a "classy" lady who was way before her time in home decorating not to mention being a good cook. However, I vividly remember when we were young and going trick or treating. Unaware ourselves, we rang the bell at your mom's house. When she came to the door this big person pushed us out of the way to get to her. We didn't know who it was and it scared us as we couldn't see a face or anything. Wish you could have seen the look on your mom's face especially when the intruder unmasked and it was my Dad. After almost peeing our pants we all had a good laugh. So many memories.....Love & Prayers to all of you. Bob & Joanna

Arlene, Alicia and Family:
I was truly sorry to learn of your Mother's passing, Arlene. Through you and Alicia I came to meet and know a lovely lady filled with a spirit that brightened a room and brought pleasant moments to all who shared her company. She had a wonderful attitude, a positive and feisty outlook on life. She was an excellent example of what the 'Senior Years' in our lives should be....a pleasant, positive attitude with a 'young at heart' spirit. My sympathy is with all of your family in your loss. Treasure the memories of your happy days shared - they are your greatest gift.
