Wilma Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2025.
Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 74, Wilma Lynn Brown grasped the wings of the morning and flew to eternity, claiming her inheritance from our Father in Heaven.

We will celebrate her life on Saturday December 27, 2025, at St. Peter's Baptist Church on 2708 S. Laurent St. Victoria, TX 77901 at 11:00a.m. Honoring Wilma as pallbearers will be Robert Hill, Billy Gene North, George North, Melvin Ross, Robin North, and Curtis Childs. Honorary Pallbearers are Pastor Carl M. Bosier, Matthew Brown, Sedrick Brown, Eric Taylor II, Andrew Taylor, Pastor Aaron Boyd, DeShawn Hawthrone, and Steve Taylor III.

Wilma was born to Elijah Eldridge Brown and Lola Mae Finley Brown on November 28,1951.

She grew up in Vanderbilt, TX and graduated from Industrial High School. Where she later became a Cafeteria Attendant for Industrial ISD.

Wilma joins her mom and dad and sisters, Kathryn Janelle Brown, Cheryl Taylor and Laura Ann Brown Bosier; 2 nephews, Eric Taylor, and Carl Duante Bosier, in the Heavens.

She is survived by her brother, Elijah "Jack" Brown; Aunt, Dorothy Lucas; Nephews, Steve Taylor (Debra), Sedrick Brown (Johhna), Matthew Brown; Nieces, Cherlyn Hodge (April), Candace Bosier (Aaron), Michelle Brown (Nick), Courtney Hawthrone (DeShawn); 10 Great Nieces and Nephews; 9 Great-great Nieces and Nephews; several cousins and other family members and friends.

Those who knew Wilma knew 6 things to be true. The first – She was a wonder in the kitchen and had a genuine love for serving others. Holidays, birthdays, Sundays, and any day, she would cook what her children wanted, and we would sit around grazing and greasy and smiling from ear to ear. 2 - She had a weak stomach and depending on what you requested to eat (turkey tails, kidneys, or pecan praline), she would gag her way through it. She is the only person who could dream about food and wake up gagging. 3. She loved reality TV, potato chips and pepperoni pizza. 4 – She was quick with a house shoe. Say the wrong thing or make the wrong joke and that shoe would come off in a flash and chase you down the hall. Her brother, Elijah "jack" Brown was on the receiving end of that shoe most days. 5 – She had a name for everybody, and everybody had a name for her. We were Pokie, Til, Sugarbaby, Dummy, BoBo, Noodle, Reebaby, CanCan, Tete, Meat, Nicholas, Daddy, Sambo, Pookie, Reno, Baby and Sedrick…yours will remain unnamed, but we allllll know what it was. And she was Aunt Wilma, Woowoo, Miss Wilma ooohhh, Wilmi, auntie, sister, Williemo, Godmommy and so much more.

And 6 – she carried on anyhow. Wilma was the calm quiet in every storm, a desert oasis, and the daily reminder to us all to continue to do. Do for others. Give to others. Her anointed hands worked for and gave to us all despite circumstance, pain, grief, or loss. She carried on anyhow and then showed us, her children, how to carry on after her ascension before ascending. And we will carry on. And we will see you again.
