Wilma Jane Hanko

Wilma Jane Hanko, age 91, of Jenison, Michigan, died in the Lord and received the reward of grace on October 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Knoper; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Cornelius and Jennie Hanko; her siblings, Florence Bouwkamp, Donald Knoper, and their spouses; her husband’s siblings, Fred Hanko, Elaine Bos, and their spouses, and Alyce Hanko; and one grandchild, Adrian Hanko. Wilma is survived by her faithful husband of 69 years, Prof. Herman Hanko; her children, Rev. Ronald (Nancy) Hanko, Neal (Jeanne) Hanko, Kenneth (Mary) Hanko, Steven (Beverly) Hanko, Marcia (Carlyle) Miersma, Timothy Hanko, Sharon (Rev. Daniel) Kleyn, and Karen (Philip) Van Baren; 29 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren. She was a loving helpmeet for her husband, and her covenant family was one of her greatest joys. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, October 19, for family only, with Rev. J. Mahtani officiating. All are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, October 19, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and a memorial service at 12:00 P.M. at Southwest Protestant Reformed Church, 4875 Ivanrest Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49418, with Prof. David Engelsma officiating. A luncheon will be provided following the service. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests that donations be sent to the Protestant Reformed Christian school of your choice.
