Dear Greatbatch Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Greatbatch's passing. He was such an important part of my life, and my sister's life, in the 50s in Clarence, first as our Sunday school teacher and later when he graciously drove my sister Judy and I to Buff State each day for two years. When he picked us up at our home on Main Street he eagerly shared with us the invention he was working on. Little did we know then that his pacemaker would go on to win worldwide usage and win world acclaim in the medical field! On a light note, Mr. Greatbatch would get so engrossed in telling us about the pacemaker that he would miss our busstop at Elmwood and Sheridan and have to turn around. We loved both Mr. and Mrs. Greatbatch and feel their impact on our lives each and every day.Pat Paul Tambacas Williamsville, N.Y.

Sending deepest sympathy to the entire Greatbatch family. I will miss him and never forget him. We had many wonderful conversations and he told about so many things. We found out we had many things in common, grew up a block apart and went to same school. Will always cherish the private tour he gave me at Clarence Musuem, telling me about what it was like back in the days. He sent me postcards from all over the world and he drew 2 stick figures in a spaceship saying that was me and him flying to Mars, I said we'll see about that! What a wonderful man who adored his family, especially that they sung in church, I said you are the local VonTrapps! Oh, he said he has done alot, but still couldn't keep the rabbits out of his garden! Once for his birthday I promised him I would work to get his name on a US stamp, he deserves it. Rest in peace "GB", did anyone else call you that? He proved you can be great friends at any age, I was 35 and he was 78. A simple man who did great things. What an remarkable person~ Sincerely, Anne "Marceycat"

Bill and Eleanor, walking Davison Road every morning with me and my dogs was a most enjoyable time. They were both great people and I will miss them very much.
I told Bill that I wished that I could have done something in my life that affected so many people so positively. Eleanore was always fiesty and so sharp. I will always feel very lucky to have known them.

Will Greatbatch will be remembered as a truly wise and wonderful man who proved the point that you don't have to be flashy to be a creative leader. The Clarence community loved him -- as well they should.

What a priviledge to have known Mr. Greatbatch. The fond memories of camping with him and Peter and some of the family while in Boy Scouts. My first experiences with 'Heavy Equipment' at the Clarence property.
But what influenced me most was being
with this incredibly Humble man, always willing to share the God given Wisdom and Love with others.
Blessings and Comfort to the Family.

I was in permanent heart block and received a pacemaker as an infant in 1964. I eventually learned I was the youngest person in NY to get a pacemaker. I was told I would never be able to run, ride a bike or have children. Thanks to the continued determination and brilliance of your father the dual chamber pacemaker was invented. I have received 9 pacemakers so far, can run a 5k race and have 4 perfectly healthily children. I met your father and mother about 5 years ago and am so grateful I was able to thank him for giving me my life. May he rest in peace

I remember seeing a pacemaker prototype that mr. G had at home. I was in high school. Many warm loaves of home-made bread were shared at the kitchen table. Took Anne to the senior prom. No one was more responsible for my meeting God than from the prayers of two wonderful people, Wilson and Eleanor. And one of those little pacemakers not too dissimilar from the one I saw so many years ago keeps my heart in rythm now. Thanks Mr. G.

To those who were touched by him, you are blessed. To his family, who sacrificed so that he could do God's work, thank you for the time he had to spend without you working to save lives. Some men leave a whisper, some leave a mark. His mark has been made. May he rest in peace and God's glory.

To the Greatbatch family,
I offer my deepest sympathies for your loss. I have known Bill for more than 20 years. He was kind enough to come to my high school science classes at Hutch Tech and talk to my students. He had them in the palm of his hand everytime he spoke. We shared many tales of our love for science and engineering. I retired and miss his wise countenance. He will be missed by a multitude, but never forgotten.
Regards,
Dr. Glen McClary

I want to pass along my deepest sympathies on the loss of Wilson. He was a wonderful man. I met him several times back in the 1990's when he bought equipment for his home office from my company. He wanted the largest monitor we could sell him with the biggest font it could produce. He told me that his eyes may be getting older but his mind was still sharp. He sat around our office like a dear old friend and told us about the early days of his company and how if we all worked hard we could make great things happen too. His only regret after many years in business was donating his original oscilloscope to a museum - he never found another one that responded quite as well. I last saw him a few years ago and he was as wonderful as ever. He will be deeply, deeply missed. I hope they erect something for him down at the Buffalo Medical Campus. After all if it were not for people like Wilson leading the way and never giving up, we would not be have the advances in medicine we have today.

To the Greatbatch Family.
I was honored to know Mr. Greatbatch when I was VP for The American Heart Association in Buffalo for some years.
He was such a gentleman and was a delightful man to be around.
He and his company were great supporters of the AHA and it was always so appreciated.
What he gave to humanity, the entire scope will never be known: but it was great and will continue forever.
My deepest sympathies go out to his entire family.

To the Greatbatch family, I had the pleasure and honor of working at WGL for 16 years. Mr. G was the most down to earth man I have ever met... a true gentleman who helped to save lives and in doing so created thousands of jobs for us in WNY. May you rest in peace Mr. G.

To the Greatbatch Family,
I worked for this wonderful company from 1987-2006 and my then husband, Mark Mika worked there even longer. This family and company did so much for us over those years including making it possible to achieve my degree in Criminal Justice. I'm now a Customs and Border Protection Officer in the Thousand Islands, NY, and I owe it all to Mr. Greatbatch for the education program the company provides. I will be forever greatful to him, and for being part of the Wilson Greatbatch Company family. I loved Mr. Greatbatch. He touched so many people in so many ways. I wonder if he really knew just how many. I'm saddened that I can't get home to attend the service. I will be thinking of all of you with a heavy heart....

My husband's parents, Glenna & Charles Gridley, were friends of Eleanor & Wilson, when they lived on Main St, in Clarence.
Glenna had a pacemaker for a long time, that never required a new battery.
I corresponded with Eleanor for a while. She sent me a copy of Wilson's book.
There was an obituary article about Wilson's death, in our newspaper, the News-Press, in Fort Myers, FL.
I wanted to let you know we're thinking of you.
