Winona C. "Winnie" Lamb

Winona "Winnie" C. Lamb, 88, of Davenport, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Genesis VNA, Bettendorf. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Lamb was born in 1919 in Watertown, S.D., to Cora and Henry Abels. She married Andrew H. Lamb on May 8, 1940, in Davenport. He died October 13, 1970. She worked in store bakeries and retired from the Sears snack bar. She enjoyed her card club, dancing, gardening, knitting, crocheting and other crafts.
Survivors include her children, Cora M. (Cleo) Borders, Harry H. (Karen) Lamb, both of Davenport, and Helen M. Hoskins of Rock Island; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Edgar Abels of Dike, Iowa, John Abels of Mesa, Ariz., and Walter (Karen) Abels of Davenport. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Van Brug.
