Dorothea, sending my thoughts of sympathy at this sad time to you, Sam, the kids and the Hirte Family. The loss of a parent is a great loss, by reading some of these entries, your dad sounded like an incredible man. Like father, like daughter!

To the Hirte Family,
It is with deepest sympathy that I write you this note. I knew Holger in High School and we then went our separate ways to various Universities.
I am so blessed to still have both of my parents with me, but as life goes on we all know that we must face a loss of a parent or Spouse at some point.
My prayers will be with your entire family in your time of sadness.
Warmest Regards,
Campbell "Cam" D. Burron

Rob and I were saddened to hear of the passing of your father. I remember meeting your parents very briefly, and what I remember most was the happy, loving environment in your home. Your parents have left an amazing legacy in you children and now your grandchildren. I am sure you have many memories as well - cherish them.

Dorothea & Sam.

I've only met Dorothea's father once (at your wedding), but was overcome by his enthusiasm, generosity and spirit that I've never forgotten him.

He has left his mark on this world, and that is something to certainly celebrate !

Thinking of you both,

George and Cindy.

Dear Dorothea and family,
I’m so sorry to hear the sad news.
Your dad had a wonderful, bubbly personality.... he had a refreshing curiosity of the world around him.
I think of him when I pass Roncevalles Ave.... he liked to pronounce it the french way.... not the funny way Torontonians pronounce it.
He will be missed greatly.
All my love,
Wendy

Dear Hirte Family,

although I never met Dr. Hirte, I almost feel as if I knew him personally. My wife Brigitte used to work with him for many years in the
Cancer Clinic at the Civic Hospital and she always spoke very highly of him.

Not only that, but now I find out that we grew up in the same hometown where I lived from 1932 until 1947 with interruptions by military service, including a period as PoW.

I attended the famous Francke Foundation "Latina", which he possibly did too.

We sometimes drove by your place on the way to Baskin's Beach.

We arrived in Canada in 1953.

May God bless you in your loss.

Dear Barbara and family,

Our thoughts and sympathy are with you at this time. Wolfgang was a remarkable man and it has been a wonderful priviledge to know him over the years since we moved next door to you in Dunrobin. I can still see you and he riding Rummy, Naja, and later on, Appy, in the field. Sometimes he would be working away in that big garden. He had many wonderful years, helped countless people in need of his skills, and raised a great family. Wolfgang's cheerful smile and hearty laugh will be missed by all who knew him, and he will be remembered with the same love and respect we had for him during his lifetime.

May God give you the comfort that only He can give.

With sympathy,

Rae and Lillian
