Wynn A. Burrus

I'm a total stranger, although a Kappa Delta sister, who happened across this incredible description of an obviously incredible young woman. For her to be taken so suddenly, I can't even begin to fathom the depth of your shock, grief and pain. You are in my heart, regardless.

I still have a beaded pendant that Wynn made when she was in Kindergarten . She had been sick, and had to stay home. While she was home, she had decided to make and sell jewelry. Parker was in my kindergarten class at Root . I remember coming to your house when you got your first dog, and coming to see Parker be baptized. What a wonderful family, and such a tragic loss. I am heartbroken for your family, and please know that I am praying for you all continuously..

I met Wynn as a four year old coming into her big brother's third grade classroom at Root. As the teacher, I remember her heading over to the reading area to see all the stuffed raccoons there. I was fortunate enough to teach both Anderson and Parker, but did not end up with Wynn when she reached third grade. Every teacher hoped to have a Burrus child in their class because of their love of learning, kindness, willingness to take risks, respect for teachers, and ability to think of outside the box ideas. I know that Wynn's spirit will live on through her siblings! May this very difficult time eventually fade somewhat, as family memories of life together bring back laughter and joy. I know that Parker & Anderson, will continue to live their lives as a reflection of Wynn's spirit.

I did not know your daughter but the beautiful tribute you wrote is evident that she touched the lives of so many people. In her short life, she made sure everyone she knew that they mattered and had a purpose in life. My prayer for all of you is that the memories you have will bring you comfort and peace. Blessings.
