In 1985 when our first baby, Justin, was 6 months old, at a Loo house event I was tapping him on the back trying to burp him. Mr. Loo cried out "Not so hard, not so hard!"

We are very sad to hear of Uncle York's passing. It was February 2018 that we last saw him when we visited San Francisco. We enjoyed our visit with him and have fond memories of the family memorabilia that he shared with us.

We always remember Uncle York as a wise, kind and caring person. May he rest in peace. Our prayers are with everyone in the family.

In his memory, we will make a donation to the Loo Scholarship Fund at the University of California at Berkeley.

Our deepest condolences. May God's blessings be with you all,

Stephen & Teresa Wong

In 1973 while in high school, I first visited the Loo family home to see my friend, Minnie. Mr. Loo warmly welcomed me and invited me to stay for dinner. From that day, I became an "honorary member of the Loo Clan" -52 years. Mr. Loo was the strength and inspiration for all in his large ever-growing, beautiful family. I loved his distinctive voice. His laugh. I told the family I can still hear his voice. Today I found I still had a long voicemail from Mr. Loo thanking me for a gift. Mr. Loo's voice, his laugh, warm heart, compassion and love will forever be in our hearts and in our minds.

Deepest condolences to the Loo Family. Mr. York Loo is the best blend of East and West that I have ever met from someone of my parent's generation. He never failed to ask how my parents in Texas were and took a true interest in what I was doing currently. He was pleasantly open to new ideas and people, and was genuinely happy to see you if you ran into him at a local store. The world is a little less joyful upon his passing. Hugs to Mrs. Lily Loo, Minnie, Susanna, Edward, Stephen, Laurence, and Carol and the extended family. God bless!

Our deepest condolence to the Loo family. We visited the Bay area a few years ago. Mr. Loo wrote down all the trip suggestions for us (really beautiful handwriting!). He was such a warm person and surely will be missed.

My condolences to the Loo family. I met Mr. Loo a few years ago in Anaheim. He was visiting with Mrs. Loo and Minnie to attend Adam´s graduation. I met him that one time. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him again and know him better- he had quite the story to tell. He will surely be missed by family and friends.

The lifelong thirst for knowledge is a wonderful example for all of us to follow. We are all grateful for the contributions to humanity by York and Lily and the good work of the family lives on.

Sending my condolences to Lily and the extended Loo family -- such a privilege to know York & Lily, particularly through his daughters Minnie & Susanna. I will always remember when Minnie & Edward took York & Lily to New York City & we had dinner together at Tavern in the Green.

So sad to learn of this tragic loss for all the Loo family, and for all of us who have had the great privilege to know and love your wonderful parents for so long. York and Lily were always so very kind to me ever since we first met almost 50 years ago. They have such a remarkable life story. And they leave such an outstanding legacy.

I will never forget their warm hospitality while a grad student at Berkeley, and later on whenever I visited San Francisco. They always made me feel like an honorary member of the Loo family.

They raised an absolutely amazing family, setting a shining example for future generations to come.

No matter when, you are never ready to say goodbye to your parents. May York rest in peace, and as we Greeks say, may his memory be eternal.
