I have known Murugan, who is like a brother today in 1974 at Manchester University, and Yoshana since Murugan dated her and visited our house, in Sale, England in 1985, and spent some time there. She was a beautiful, kind, and charismatic person and very intelligent. Time passed and we met whenever we visited Murugan at Winter Haven, Florida, and She visited us with Murugan and Krishan at Natal, Brazil. She will be always remembered.

Dr. Raj and nurse Betty were the reason I went to Gessler clinic for many years. You will be missed.

Yoshana was my aunt and she was a very beautiful, kind and charismatic person not to mention very intelligent. I loved talking with her and being around her and I wish I had had more chances to be with her before she passed away. I always admired her and thought of her as one of my role models when it came to my career. We had many conversations about what I would want to be when I grew up and though I was an indecisive toddler at the time, she still payed attention to me and everything I told her. I miss her dearly and even though many of the people who may see this might not have ever met her, I can confirm that we was a very beautiful person and that you probably would have loved her if you had met her too.

Jo , one of the most cheerful, thoughtful, caring person I had the good fortune to have as my sister in law. She was a very tolerant wife to my dearest brother Murugan, and a loving mother to Viji & Krishan, wonderful daughter to her late parents and a adored daughter in law to my late parents too ., I know Murugan and kids had so much fun together with Jo. A very talented musician & artist.

Will be dearly missed

Yoshana Pathmanathan Rajaratnam, Jo, the beloved wife of Murugan Rajaratnam and loving mother of Viji and Krishan, was born in Jaffna to Dr Rasaiah Pathmanathan and Puvanam Coomaraswamy of Chundikuli, Jaffna, Northern Sri Lanka in 1959. Jo's maternal Grandparents Mr Vinasithamby & Mrs Rukmani Coomaraswamy spent a great deal of time with Jo and her cousin Esha Durayappah while they were growing up in Jaffna. Jo was the grand-niece of the formidable Tamil Politician Mr G.G. Ponanampalam and the niece of legendary Mayor of Jaffna, Mr Alfred Durayappah. In the seventies, Jo and Esha played badminton at the Jaffna YMCA. I saw these little girls excel in this game, winning championships, first at the under 12 level, and later as young ladies to capture the coveted open ladies trophy. Jo also excelled in her studies and broke the Jaffna record in passing her High School Government exam with all A's and A+. Jo fulfilled her ambition by becoming a medical doctor in England.
Later My husband Michael and I met Jo after she married Michael's friend Murugan. We visited them several times; fond memories of happy times continue to linger. We miss Jo very much. She enjoys her Heavenly life with her parents now.

Joe Acca was an outstanding person. She was caring, kind intelligent & fun loving. A lady of many talents she dabbled in music, painting & she was an encyclopedia of knowledge. She helped me when I first came to the USA to start my medical career & some of my best memories are vacationing in Florida with Puanam Mami, Rasu Mama, Murugan, Viji & Krishan.
She suffered a difficult illness but never complained and she lived life to the fullest till the very end and had no regrets. She was an example to all of us as to how to live live. She will be missed greatly.

Our lovely friend Jo. How can this be? One minute we are having a wonderful holiday with you and Raj, the next minute you are gone.

Jo and Raj have been two of our few very special friends for many years; since we became their neighbours in Winter Haven. Actually, not just special but very, very special. Jo was such a wonderful person; always happy, caring and so clever at judging people's mood and character. She always made us so welcome and we will always remember the many happy hours we spent together with great fondness. She was a great example to her children Viji and Krishan and wisely nurtured their talents. Just before she passed away she told us that she had no regrets in her life: Her parents had given her the freedom to follow her own career aspirations, although she had decided, from an early age, to follow in her father's footsteps into the medical profession. She had a wonderful husband in Raj and two terrific children who were busy making a success of their lives. She said "what more could I ask for".

For us, coming to Florida will never be the same again. However, we are sure that we will feel her presence when we are with her family and will have to be content with that.

Goodbye to our wonderful friend who will be dearly missed by everyone.

We were very blessed to call Jo a friend and neighbor for the past few years. I got to know Jo better through painting class(she was very talented) and social events. She was always smiling and had a positive attitude. The last time I saw her we were visiting and laughing and she was enjoying life. We lost her much too soon and she will be missed.

I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of Jo.
As a family member, I have known Jo for more than
30 years. Jo had a positive attitude to life, she was always happy and cheerful. She was always in a good mood and always friendly. She was very relaxed about everything. She was also a courageous and fearless person. I am proud to have known such a wonderful human being.
May her soul rest in eternal peace. My deepest
sympathy and condolences.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Murugan, Viji and Krishan

To a good friend and a close relative.
A pure soul left our planet too early; a void in our family with her timely medical advice.

Thank you, Jo, for all our exciting scientific discussions.
You are now with the Almighty Shiva in his abode.

All I can contribute here with a few verses of Shiva Puranam.

Mrs. Jo Rajaratnam was one of the smartest, sweetest moms I've been fortunate to know. She always made my family and I feel so lucky to have known her over the years and always made us feel so welcome in her home. We enjoyed spending holidays together. She always had the coolest stories and fun facts to share; just a wealth of knowledge. She will be greatly missed and I'll cherish the memories we made. Cengiz family sends deepest sympathies to the Rajaratnam family.
