We are so blessed to be bestowed the warm and caring friendship from Yuh-Guo & all of you; especially in the last six years. Though he had departed so suddenly but we are able to find the courage and strength that he had left behind.

Dear Eugenia & family:
Yuh-Guo and I are junior high classmates and good friends. I was sad to hear the passing away of Yuh-Guo. Please accept my late condolences. Life is fast. I always like to see him again. But I missed several opportunities. Hope I can see him in the future.

We were reunited by chance.
I met you in a 50-year-old memory,
And we never spoke back then.
We knew each other from a lifetime ago,
in a junior high classroom.
But our recent emails only go back a few short years.
Why have such a long-standing acquaintance
Yet such a short friendship?
I cannot understand God's plan,
But what I do know--you will be joining Him in His heavenly garden.
We, your classmates, will be missing you
And be wishing you luck on your way home!

I only had the privilege of knowing Yuh-Guo a short time. He had a joyful smile and personality and I am so glad I had that opportunity to know him. May the pain of your sorrow be softened by the knowledge that those who came into contact with him even a little, such as myself, remember him with affection. With deepest sympathy.

I knew Yuh-Guo as a colleague at Clairol R&D for many years. He was always smiling, always optimistic, and always cheerful. I remember him being a little self-conscious about his English, but his solid understanding of Chemistry convinced all who worked with him to listen to his ideas. I feel fortunate to have known and worked with, such an impressive man. For Yuh-Guo's family, I am sorry for your loss, and I hope that happy memories of him will help to soften your grief.

OldPan (my FuJen classmate) left an indelible impression on me during our 4 years of university life. His music loving and sunny disposition, whenever I talked to him, always seemed to cheer me up. His BIG (infectious) smile seemed to carry the day. Whenever I think/talk of him, his very smile pop up first without fail.
We have many fond memories of OldPan as I will think of him fondly. His departure has made him leave our lives, but OldPan will never leave our hearts. Only hearts will keep us go on. Forever....

Dear Eugenia, Jeffrey and Elysia,
I am missing the right words to express my sad feelings about the loss of Hugo.
I met Hugo - he was always using this name - many years ago at Clairol as a research partner. The more we met the more we became friends. And as we both left our companies and started our own businesses we still kept beeing in contact. Whenever Hugo was travelling to Europe we tried to meet. And it was always a pleasure to see him with this very heartwarming smile on the face.
I will never forget all these wonderful moments we could share in the US, in Switzerland and in Germany.

Dear Pan Family,
I was very stunned and in grief to hear of Yuh-Guo's untimely passing.
We were classmates in junior high and high school. I still have many fond memories of the time we spent together. He was a very wise and warm person. I will always admire his pleasant, optimistic attitude and the ability to handle anything. I never thought he would leave us so soon. He will be greatly missed. I wish to express my deepest sympathy to your family.
All the best,

Dear Elysia and Jeffrey, and Elysia,
We were shocked to hear Yuh Guo left us suddenly. We just received your family's photo Christmas card a few weeks ago. We hardly saw Yuh Guo after he left Los Angeles, however, your family's annual newsletters kept us connected. Last time we saw Yuh Guo was at Charles Tiee's house a few years ago. He was energetic and excited about his father/son MIT team for their venture in China. He didn't change much from the old days and still had the same big smile. We will always remember his happy face and kindness.
We are very sorry for your loss. He is in a better place now.

Dear Pan Family,
It was an honor and pleasure to know Yuh-Guo, sadly for such a brief time during our travels. He clearly loved his family and enjoyed sharing his thirst for learning. What a marvelous time and such wonderful memories you all must have from that trip! We have especially fond memories of your family as dinner companions with an appreciation and appetite for good food! He shared his joy of life and will sorely be missed. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you at this most difficult time.

Yuh-Guo, we remembered you with fondness & deep respect: the son whom has shown the utmost filial piety to his aged parents, the husband whom was the pillar of strength for his devoted wife, the father whom all children wished they had......

Dear Eugenia, Jeffrey and Elysia,
I was deeply grieved to hear about Hugo's passing.
I have known Hugo since our cooperation with Clairol and we have always stayed in contact. Since these days I have considered Hugo as a colleague and as a friend. It was always a pleasure working with him in his entrepreneurial fresh spirit while at the same time I have known him as a man of highest integrity and of a very humble and kind character.
I can imagine that without Hugo it will be very difficult times for your family. I can only wish all of you the strength to keep on, with the certainty, that many friends all over the world will also miss him and keep lots of positive memories of him.

Yuh Guo, our big brother, is loved and respected by us younger siblings and siblings-in-law. Although authoritative sometimes, everything he says is for our own good, and we all appreciate that.
Yuh Guo and Eugenia took care of me when I first came to the US, encouraged me during my difficult times and they have been my role model for all these years. I feel blessed to be part of their extended family.
Last November, after two months moving back to Taiwan, I was so glad to meet Yuh Guo and Jeffery in Taipei. We went to the famous soybean milk shop. Yuh Guo told the owner that he used to bike there after school when the shop was newly opened. I told Jeffery that Jian Guo High School is the best boy's high school in Taipei. That time, I noticed, big brother looked better than ever.

Dear Elysia and Jeffrey,
We are very sorry for your loss. Over our years together, we saw your father as the quiet support behind you and your mom. You could tell by his smile the immense pride he had in both of you and your mom. His partnership with your mom in raising a wonderful family and supporting her passion was incredible to watch. Having lost a parent at a young age, my siblings and I were left with a big hole in our hearts. But time and bonding with family helped us move on. We have also been comforted by the fact that we have an angel guiding us always. Please be comforted knowing that your father will always be there to guide you through life. Hugs to you and your mom.

Dear Pan Family,
We are very sorry to learn that Yuh Guo left us so suddenly.
Yuh Guo is my middle school classmate, we used to go camping together, and were in the same small philharmonic circle. In 2012, we have met again in an alumni gathering after 35 years, I got to know his life in America is also full of vitality and made himself a respected scientist.
As a person of integrity, sincerity and honesty, Yuh Guo will live peacefully in heaven. We will always miss him!

Yuh-Guo was my roommate at Fu Jen University for three years. He loved classical music and would spent money to buy records or concert tickets while saving money by eating can sardines. He would share with me the best imported sardines he found. We were the hiking club members together too. We did many activities together in Fu Jen. Then we did hang around in LA during the 70s' while he went to UCLA and I was at USC. We did have a lot fun together in many ways. After he went to the East Coast, I probably only met him once in the East and once in SF when he came with Eugenia to visit and that was a long time ago.
Yuh-Guo originally did not want to join the reunion last November in Taiwan. Then he asked to join at the last minutes. I was quite happy he decided to come with Jeffrey. Because I had tried to recruit him for several times to join the reunion without success. I believe he had such a good time to spend time with old classmates, he wrote me a New Year's greeting card to thank me for the opportunity to meet old friends in Taiwan. I treasured that and I really appreciated it that I met with him again last November.
Yuh-Guo was a very decent and honest man. He was always willing to help people. He left many fond memories with classmates. He will be deeply missed.

Dearest Eugenia, Jeffrey, and Elysia,
Don't cry for Hugo today,
He wouldn't want it this way.
Be strong and smile,
For you three will see him in a while.
He knows you miss him,
But now in Heaven he will be.
Do not keep your sad face,
Hugo is in a much better place.
Do not let your tears fall,
For he cannot wipe it all.
Yes, his life wasn't long.
But he's begging you to be strong.
Live every moment as if it were your last,
He won't forget any memories that have passed.
Cherish life and love as he watches you from above.
As he remembers all of the good things,
He comes to see he has gotten his wings.
It is time to go and fly,
As your guardian angel he will try.
Don't cry for him today,
He's on his way.
Soaring through the sky,
He watches all of us telling us goodbye.
Love you, my brother-in-law, Dr. Yuh-Guo Pan
