Mrs Yun Ok Park

Yun Ok Park was born to the late Lim Jae Hyun (임재현) and Kim Hak Yun (김학연), April 16, 1937, in Busan, South Korea. Mom married my father Benedict Ho Seok Park on November 25, 1959, and they lived together mostly in Seoul, Korea, before immigrating to the United States on December 10, 1975. Even with limited formal education, mom was an entrepreneur. She owned a dry cleaner, a wig shop, office maintenance, mini market, and even a hardware store. But her primary job title has to be that of a loving mom and loyal wife. She cooked, cleaned, and fed us like no other moms. She was the best cook! Yun Ok Park was born into a devout Catholic family. She was an active member of her Korean Catholic community for past 38 years in the United States. She was a member of Legion of Mary presidium for past 25 years. She constantly prayed and she loved her God and Mother Mary very much. Her legacy to all of us is her unflinching faith and devotion to God, to her Church, and to her family. Yun Ok Park is survived by her husband of 53 years and her five children: Regina, Jamie, Bernie, Geon, and Angela and two daughters-in-laws: Heather and Annie. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, Ashley, Nick, Chris, Austin, Taylor, Allison, Madison, and Nathan. Yun Ok "Margaret" Park, 76, of Lawndale, CA. departed from us peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 6:04 PM surrounded by her family while we were eating dinner, laughing, and sharing her stories. She will be terribly missed by all.
