On June 23, 2018, Yvonne Mae Falasco entered into Heaven and joined her late husband, Robert Falasco. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, in the comfort of her home.
Born Yvonne Mae Holt, she joined the world on August 18, 1926, in Long Beach, California. She was the only daughter of Edgar Burton Holt and Marguerite Mae Furlong. At a young age, the death of Yvonne's mother led to her living with her maternal grandparents and then her great aunt, "Momsie."
Yvonne graduated from UC Berkeley where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. There, she met her roommate, Lorena Falasco. While visiting Los Banos, she met Lorena's brother, Robert. Love bloomed while the couple dated for a couple of years. The two wedded on July 31, 1948. Yvonne and Robert have four children: Michael Falasco, Joan Falasco LaSalvia, Anne Norton and Sally Perry. They raised their family in Los Banos and were active members in the community.
Yvonne was a member of many organizations including two Bridge Clubs, Flower Arrangers, Gourmet Cooking Club, La Caridad Guild and American Field Service exchange student program. She also was very instrumental in Our Lady of Fatima's Mothers' Club, where she served a term as their president. She also enjoyed entertaining numerous political functions in their home for the Democratic Party.
Yvonne was a devout Catholic. Robert and she were avid travelers and took together multiple trips throughout the U.S. and world. She also had a talent for gardening and prided herself on her beautiful backyard. Yvonne also took great joy in playing the piano.
As a former elementary school teacher, Yvonne loved to share her passion for education. She had a genuine love for reading and learning. She played an unequivocal role in the education of her children and grandchildren.
Yvonne is survived by her four children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and her beloved cat, Milly Mae. She is also survived by her cousins Clarence (Skip) Holt, Nancy Reynolds and Patti Rodabaugh; brother-in-law, Dominic Falasco and sister-in-law, Jan Falasco and their families.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Whitehurst Funeral Chapels at 5 PM followed by the rosary in honor of Yvonne at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Services are entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos.
