Zachary Blakewell

My condolences to the Blakewell family. I grew up with Zach, we were friends, never super close but I always knew he was there if I needed someone. He was a great person and I am sad to have lost him.

Zach was such a bright student! It was a pleasure to get to know him and help him find his career path in the industry. He will be missed! I am grateful to have known Zach during his time here at WMU with the Paper Family. My thoughts and prayers for comfort and healing are with the Blakewell family during this difficult time. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Zach during his last years at WMU while he was finishing up his paper engineering degree. He was sharp and very knowledgeable of recycled paper cleaning and screening systems. We kept in touch after graduation and I enjoyed hearing about his successes. The internal battles he faced were difficult for sure and I pray that he is at peace. We uplift the Blakewell family in prayer during this difficult time and hope that you find peace and strength.

Zach and I were Co-Heads of Lights and worked together throughout the four years of high school. He was always ready to give a hand, share snacks, or quietly joke about the current production we were working on. I remember that one event went longer than anticipated, and we tried everything under the sun to stay entertained. Zach created a series of events to test our memory, steadiness of hand, and ability to dismantle a power tool -- winner drank the last soda in our secret hoard. I look fondly back at the memories we shared together. My condolences to his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear about Zach. He and I were never super close but we were "birthday buddies" at North. Every year on 2/25 we would walk down to the office together and pick out a birthday book. It was a fun tradition. Sending love to the Blakewells and all who loved him. May he rest in peace.

Dear Sandy, Tim and Aly - May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. There are so many people that love your family so much. You are always generous kind fun and wonderful people to be friends with. I have been honored to be your friend for many years and participated in many discussions with you about your dear son Zach. I think he was a very sweet soul and achieved so much even though he was plagued with these demons. His life was very short, but the accomplishments that you point out are many and wonderful. We have such fond memories of Zach as a friend to our family. We were so impressed with him. He was a gentle, sweet and caring kid who cared about his community too and showed it! Not just through church and scouts but in our neighborhood too. Sam followed Zach into his scout troop, and really looked up to him. He took on some big challenges too with his engineering studies, which is still such a great achievement for him, Tim and Sandy. We will keep his memory alive as we shared so many great times. While we are all so incerdibly sad, we know you are at peace Zach. Tim, Sandy and Aly, your family is very dear to us all. We are sharing your grief and sending all our love to you. We share your grief at the loss of your beloved son. Zach was a beautiful soul and we pray that although the demons of addiction have robbed us of him, he is at peace. We celebrate all the wonderful aspects of his life and we will miss him and love him forever.
