Zachary Ruth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2013.
Zachary Matthew Ruth (Age 28) Zachary Matthew Ruth, beloved Son and Brother, departed our family and went to eternal salvation on Thursday, 1 August 2013. He left his family and friends too, too early, following a catastrophic medical episode on Tuesday, 30 July. Zak's short but beautiful life was dedicated to loving, caring, giving, teaching and creating to help make all those who knew him happier for the relationship. He was truly a child of God who brought great joy to the lives of many, especially through his masterful musicianship as an outstanding drummer and founding member of the rock band "Common Effect." His joy, love for life, intelligence, smile, laugh, generosity and compassion were limitless, tempered only by his lengthy struggle with terrible, physical pain for which the medical world was unable to find a solution. He is with God now, having contributed to this world in so many ways in an effort to help those he loved and cared for to the best of his ability. May he rest in joyous, eternal peace, forever pain free. If only all mankind could be so sincerely loving and caring as Zak was for his short span of 28 years. May God bless and keep him safe forever more. He is survived by his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Ruth II, and brothers CAPT Michael S. Ruth, USN, and Eric A. Ruth; Mike's wife Katherine M. Ruth; his nephews Samuel A. and Wesley H. Ruth; Eric's wife Camelia Herndon and step daughters Hana and Heather; also, his grandfather CDR Wesley H. Ruth USN (Ret.), and aunt Mary Ann Ruth. Relatives and friends are invited to Zak's Life Celebration at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on 7 August from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Rd., Reston, VA on 8 August at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at a local cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's National Medical Center, 801 Roeder Rd. Suite 650, Silver Spring, MD 20910 in Memo: Zachary Matthew Ruth.
