We were so sorry to hear of the tremendous loss of Zach. We remember all three of the kids coming over to 314 W 2nd in Alta to watch Kevin rake the leaves. He always called Zach~Zeek, and he would just roll his eyes and correct him. He had a sweet smile and a sparkle in his eye that will always be cherished. To Zach's family and friends,
We also have been blessed with knowing Zach through my sister's family, the Nicholson's. He was like another member of their family and truly became part of our extended family. We have many fond memories of when he would come out to their place when we were visiting: he and Nate standing at the kitchen counter clowning with each other, the whole gang at the bonfire, Kyle and Zach going at it at the ping pong table, the trips he made to the CWS in Omaha (always thought he should get a new Texas hat one of those trips!)-these are just a few of the fond memories we will always have. He was a great kid, pure and simple- and we are glad to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this unbelievably difficult time.

Zack and my son have been friends sence Zack moved to Ottumwa thay played baseball and football and Basketball and was on all stars teams together Zack was a great kid and will be sorrly missed . My heart and prays go out to his Faimly. Zack had a heart of gold and was friends with who every he ran in too. I reamber how happy Zack was when his dad helped couch them for there 15 year old all stars baseball team. He loved his faimly and was so proud of them all.

Not only did I have the opportunity to meet Zack, but I had the pleasure of being his friend. Living with one of Zack's best friends, Zack became like a little brother to me. I had the opportunity to meet Zack and the rest of the Thomas family when they first moved to Ottumwa. Zack’s Dad, Roger was my basketball coach I had the chance to get to know Zack and the Thomas family quite well. I always new Zack would be a great student athlete and would be well liked by others. It’s sad to see Zack gone at such a young age. He had a bright future ahead of him and a lot of things to look forward to. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to know Zack.

Zach is my nephew's best friend.
I had the pleasure of seeing him every Christmas when visiting my sister and her family. He spent so much time at the Nicholson home that he seemed like a part of our family too.
