Every parent feels responsible for their own children, correctly. But what ZAhi and I shared was an interest in o ur grandchildren, and we each found a way to encourage the grandchildren in their interests, which supplemented what the parents needed to do. One strategy I used was was to read what they were reading (and liked) and Zahi was more direct, what do you want to do? you can do it. We can be valuable partners, with the kids and the parents. Kathleen.

Sahar, Mousa, Ronda,
I wish we could have come to the services, but were thinking about you all day. I think my whole family has great memories of Zahi, and your family, and cherish the traditions that brought our families together at thanksgiving. It is hard not to love the story of Zahi and Kathy writing letters in their youth, only to form a lifelong friendship. There are very few special people who could be said to have embraced an entire family, as Zahi did for my family.
much love,
Sarah Stoll

Dear Kakish Family,
I am so grateful to have known Zahi my whole life! Although we rarely saw him outside of Thanksgiving, after nearly 50 years of Thanksgiving's together there is a true and fast bond to him and to your whole family! It is also a great reminder that it is not quantity but quality of time we share that matters most. We also felt a special place with him, a caring and support for each of us in the Stoll family. As a young adult, he took a real interest in my art work and is the first person I ever gave one of my drawings too! A pair of Mustangs fighting in the desert that I was so proud of and it meant so much to me that he wanted it. It was a great honor for me to give it to him. He made us feel so special at weddings and other family events and he always wanted to know what me and my sisters were doing, how we were doing, always a deep love and caring from him. He was a foundation for everyone and a very special person to me and my whole family. My deepest sympathies to all of you, but how lucky we were to know him and to see the family he built grow so big and strong and maintain his legacy.
With much love, Vinnie, Mandy, Claudia, Patrick, Markus and the rest of the Stoll family

Words can't express this great man. Zahi or we love to call him uncle Abu Musa was an angel who walked on the ground. I knew him since I was young. My family always told me how helpful he is. I came to the states and met him, he always called to check, I'll miss your calls and your advices. Rest in peace Uncle.

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel now and share with his family. Zahi was an amazing man and will be long remembered. He did so much for our PH Community with his sharing, caring and understanding of the dastardly disease.
He was generous and kind to a fault and understood the meaning of compassion as well as joy.
You will breathe easier now and will be sorely missed -- another angel has his wings.

Zahi introduced me to a world I didn't know. I will forever cherish the walks we had in Jerrash and the time spent enjoying the Jordan Valley from the balcony of "the farm" His strength was and will remain, inspiring for me and my family.

Zahi truly was an amazing man, and I feel blessed to have known him. I have only known him for 8 years, however I am glad our paths have crossed and I am glad to call him a friend. He has made me a better nurse. He was truly an inspiration to all that knew him. He will be missed, but definitely not forgotten. May you be comforted by the thought that he is not suffering anymore.
