Zayda Ortega Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 14, 2024.
LOWELL - Zayda Luz Ortega,

51 of Lowell, Massachusetts,

passed away at Lowell General

Hospital after a brief illness. She

was surrounded by her children

and family.

Zayda was born on September

14, 1972, to Luis and Carmen

Ortega at Lowell General

Hospital.

The simplest pleasures brought great joy in life

to Zayda. She loved Snoopy and made a wicked

good Snoopy snow cone as a child. Her love

for Snoopy continued into her adult years and

we hope you will consider wearing a splash of

Snoopy on Saturday in her honor. Zayda was a

friend to all. Often bringing stray animals home as

a child, which she would "gently persuade" the

rest of us to secretly hide the strays and ended

up getting us all in trouble. Yet her negotiation

skills were CIA level, repeatedly convincing us to

do many things that we should never have done!!

She was always lending a hand to those in need

and tried to sprinkle cheer in the lives of those

around with her great sense of humor that made

people laugh. She was a longtime employee of

The Radisson Hotel in Chelmsford.

Zayda was predeceased by her father Luis

Ortega, and her sisters Ana Martinez and Marta

Ortega. She is survived by her longtime partner

James Owens. Her precious mother Carmen

Ortega, her beautiful children Michael Ortega

(Joesph Nieves) of Fitchburg MA, Michelle Ortega

of Gloucester, MA, Mariah Ortega Marquez of Billerica,

MA and Marissa Castro of Lawrence, MA. Her

sisters Carmen Mitchell (Tracy Mitchell) of Lowell

and Ada Ortega (William Westmoreland) of Lowell.

Her granddaughter Aurora Puryear of Gloucester,

MA. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chapel service will be held at Saint Joseph's

Cemetery on March 16, 2024, at 10:30 They

will be conducted by her niece Major Migdalia

Lavenbein of The Salvation Army. In her honor

the family requests donations be made to Life

Connection Center 192 Appleton Street, Lowell,

MA, an organization Zayda felt strongly about.

Following the chapel service there will be a

Celebration of Life at the East End Social Club

on 15 W 4th Street, Lowell MA.

My childhood memories are with you or about you. The times we shared, the fun we had, the THINGS we did. I will always remember growing up with you. When you became a mom the first time with Michael and me with Jasmine sharing parenting methods and learning as we grew up with them. I love my sweet friend and I always think about you. I wish I was there to kiss you and tell you goodbye. I have been collecting Barbie´s. You would be so impressed. Just looking at them brings back so many memories of us toting that big box of Barbie´s around looking for a spot to play where Chico couldn´t find us. Oh how I miss those times. And as bad as this sounds I even miss the mischief we got into. I could write forever, just know I love you always and forever. The three Z´s from a project in Lowell mass will forever be in my heart. Until I see you again my friend. I love you.

Our deepest condolences go out to Zayda's family, friends and our Radisson family! We had the pleasure of meeting/working with Zayda at Radisson. She was one of the people that you were glad to have on shift with you. You could joke and laugh with her, and still get your work done. She was not only a hard worker but also a friend. It's hard to believe she is gone so young and far too soon. May she rest in peace!
