My condolences to the Clark family. Though I did not know Zella personally, I know that it would have taken an amazing woman to raise a son who would become an excellent educator and advisor.

Deepest condolences to all of Zella's family. What a remarkable woman; she sang in so many ways, I felt privileged to share a note with her. Lots of love, and Good Night Irene.

I knew only of Zella's warmth and drive through her son Ian. Like her son, Zella took on 'educator' as one of the many roles that made her an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. May her spirit continue to live on through all of her family, and through the many others whose lives she shared.

Zella was a gracious lady. I didn't know her all that well but her will to be out in the community against what I would have found significant odds was impressive these past few years. I thoroughly enjoyed her memoir. It was a delightful read. Goodbye, Zella.

Zella was a precious person. I fondly remember how warm and welcoming her and Sid were when we visited them. It was a joy to be given tours of her magnificent gardens throughout the years. Zella inspired me to develop a passion for plants and gardening. She will be missed by so many. I think of her fondly when I see
Valerian in bloom in the summer.

Zella was one of my favorite badminton partners on Denman Island. I last talked to her in March when she attended a mutual friend's birthday party. She and another friend, Phyllis DeWolfe, swam the length of Cultus Lake at age 16. She was a great friend and I'm sorry to see her go. Condolences to her family.

I will miss Zella's presence in this world. Zella was a friend of my mom, Doreen Johnson, and I was amazed that she could still remember my mom late in her life, many years after my mom had passed away. My favourite memory is of a special day when Zella took me to a community firing at Gordon's giant underground kiln - and fondly recollect Zella racing around the fire, camera in hand to take photos My thoughts go out to all of you. ~Dawn Binnington
