A memorial service will be held for Zella Mae Hall, 82, of Canton, Texas, on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Eubank Funeral Home, Chaplin Richard Moore officiating.
Zella passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband by her side on May 14, 2021. She was born on April 12, 1939, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Wilbur Brown and Helen Shipton Brown.
She grew up in Michigan City and graduated from Isaac C. Elston High School. On June 28, 1958, she married the love of her life, Richard Hall.
Zella was a stay at home mom for many years, her daughters said she was the "June Clever" of homemakers. If something needed done, Zella could get it done. After caring for her home and family, she was involved with the Pink Ladies at the local hospital, a leader of the Girl Scouts, worker at the Mother's Day Out program at her church, a third grade Sunday School teacher and if there was a meal to be prepared at the church, you could find Zella there. She was an excellent cook and baker. Everyone loved the delicious food she made.
She was known to everyone as Mama Zella. But her family called her blessed. "Her children rise up and called her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'" Proverbs 31:28-31. Zella leaves an empty place at the table, but love in the hearts of those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Helen Brown; four sisters; and two brothers.
Zella is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Hall; daughter, Kim Barnhill and her husband, Marvin; daughter, Patti Taylor; grandchildren, Justin Barnhill and wife, Brenna, and Brandon Hall and wife, April; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Colson, Liam and Lincoln; two sisters; and a host of family and friends.
