Of Andover passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a slip and fall accident 4 days prior to the passing. Dr. Liu was born in China. He was a physician and professor at Peking University School of Medicine. He was head of the Hospital Management Division. Dr. Liu published several books on hospital management and medical malpractice. He led rescue teams in response for several major natural disasters in China. After the great Tangshan earthquake in 1976, the rescue team under his leadership saved lives of thousands of people. Dr. Liu received many honors and awards for the professional service he provided throughout his career. Dr. Liu is survived by his wife Julia Song of Andover, sisters Zhenying Liu and Zhenyun Liu of China, daughter Li Liu and her husband Steven Chiang of Sandwich MA, daughter Emily Liu and her husband Xiaoduo Fan of Andover, and 4 grandchildren, Elaine Chiang, Charles Chiang, Maxwell Fan and Alice Fan. Calling hours will be on Saturday December 8 from 1PM to 2PM with a funeral service to follow at 2PM at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover.
