When ever i see a beautiful smile, like the one Zino had, i am reminded of what a wonderful person he was His way in life and loving people was an example of what God expects from all of us. I am unable to come and so sorry, but my prayers will be for everyone who loved him like I did. Jan, thank you for inviting me; i so appreciate it - Jann Hall

Zino was bigger than life. I think no one here does not have this memory etched into their hearts: upon entering the door at the restaurant, Zino see's you, his face lights up, then he stands and extends his arms wide with a huge genuine smile.
May he be in heavens biggest kitchen tasting a perfect sauce. I am fortunate to have been known and loved by him. To his family my deepest condolences. To Zino, you are loved and never forgotten.

Dear Jan,
I dined at your restaurant the night you opened and I was so impressed with Zino's warmth. I have known him since through the Civic Club, Garden Club and meeting him here and there. I am one of the hundreds of people that would love to have another hug from him.
It was wonderful to meet the family and I admire your courage in keeping his dream alive. I lost my husband 5 years ago and it is HARD - in fact today is his birthday. You will meet many difficult milestones. My heart goes out to you.
With love,
Marva Brandt

I FIRST MET,ZINO, WHEN I WORKED AT CASH AND CARRY WHEN HE WOULD COME GET SUPPLIES FOR HIS RESTAURANT IN SONOMA. HE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE ME HELP HIM TO FIND THINGS AND REWARDED ME WITH HIS BEAUTIFUL SMILE AND A HUG WHEN HE CAME AND WHEN HE LEFT. I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND UNABLE TO ATTEND EITHER SERVICE,OF WHICH I WAS SO SORRY. JAN AND BOYS YOU DON'T KNOW HOW VERY MUCH OTHERS THOUGHT OF HIM, INCLUDING MYSELF; ALWAYS REMEMBER IN YOUR MEMORIES HOW MUCH HE WAS LOVED AND THOUGHT OF.HIS FOOD WAS AS EXCELLENT AS HIS BIG HEART WAS. I MISSED SEEING HIM AFTER HE MOVED TO KELSEYVILLE AND I NO LONGER WORKED AT CASH AND CARRY, BUT I NEVER FORGOT THE PEACEFUL AND LOVING MAN HE WAS TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE. I PRAY DAILY FOR YOU,JAN,AND THE BOYS.IF THE WORLD WAS FULL OF MORE ZINO'S, WOULD IT NOT BE A MORE WONDERFUL PLACE TO LIVE? GOD'S LOVE TO YOU ALL.

My husband and I met Zino and Jan when we stayed at their Inn in April 2008, while we were house-hunting. We were spoiled by their warm generosity and Zino's nightly culinary delights! Every time I went to Zino's I looked forward to his smiling face almost more than his food. He taught me how to love life and for knowing him I am eternally thankful.

Oh boy, where can I even begin..
I met Zino thru Malek about 20 years ago in Sonoma. what a wonderful man. He had 2 of the cutest little boys, a beautiful wife, a very warm heart and a great restaurant. after I got married and had 2 of my own kids, every time we were in Sonoma we would stop by Zino's restaurant and say hi to him. it was always the brightest part of our day. he was so sweet, so inviting, and was always so proud of my well behaving kids. Zoe and Zane always felt at home with him. they used to ask him for Ice cream every time... and for my wife, she absolutely adored him. who wouldn't love Zino??
For myself, I miss Zino a lot. I saw him with Jan at Malek's house after they had just gotten married. what a beautiful couple. they were talking about selling everything and moving up to Clear lake. before we knew it, they had already bought an Inn up there and were ready to move. I told Zino that it's not going to be the same down here without him. couldn't imagine after all these years going to Sonoma and not seeing him at the restaurant anymore. he invited us to the Inn so many times, and I, to this date, regret it so much that we never got a chance to run up to Clear Lake.
Jan, Zino Jr., Sammy and the rest of the loving family, my deepest sorrows and warmest condolences to you all. I feel your pain, and the empty hole in your hearts and hope that your pain will ease with time.
I know that it's going to be hard for all of us to get over this shocking loss, but Zino's big smile, warm heart and great memories will always stay with us.
May God bless you all, and give you strength in these sad days.
Zino was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

We are so sorry about Zino he will be greatly missed. We are so glad we had the oppportunity to know such a wonderful individual. My new bride Julie and I would enjoy spending as much time at Zino's as our busy lives would allow us. Zino and Jan always made us feel so at home and are great friends of ours. We always felt so welcomed and relaxed there. You will truly be missed Zino by my wife and I and the entire community.

Zino was So Kind to his customers, which I was lucky enough to be one. I brought my parents for their anniversary and he treated them like royalty! When I stumbled to pick a wine to agree with our 3 different meals, he recommended the perfect one and did it in a way that made me look smart. I will miss him and his hospitality for the rest of my life.

ALL of my family from Kelseyville and out of the area are so saddened to hear about Zino's accident. It has been one of our favorite restaurants in Clear Lake since he blessed our county with his good food and great spirit. My mom and I were always greeted with a hug and a kiss and he always made us feel so special. We will miss him and his great smile.

Many years ago, when my son was small, we were constantly having fundraisers for his small private school. Eachtime I asked Zino for his help, he said YES! without even a moments hesitation. He was a Proud Papa, himself, and a Glowing example of what it means to live in a small closeknit community. He gave freely of his warmth and generousity. He is a Bright Light.
I will hold his memory in my heart, forever, and send Blessings of Comfort and Peace to his beloved family.

Jan and family,
Doug and I have very fond memories of our times at Zino's. Zino was the most warm proprietor that we have ever known. We have traveled all over the world and have met alot of Chef's, none like Zino, to take the time to greet his guests, cook their food and at times even serve them. He was truly a genuine gentle man. We, like so many others will miss him. Stephanie & Doug Codling

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. John just saw Zino the day before the accident @ Kelseyville Lumber. We always love to come to the resturant, not only for the great food, but for the Zino's friendly visit and hug. I'll never forget the first time we came to Zino's in the summer of 2006 by boat. He was so excited we came by the boat. We used to see Zino sometimes on our drive down Soda Bay Road to town. He would alway wave, say Hi, Hi, Hi, with a great smile. Zino was a very special person loved by all who knew him and will truly be miss by all.
