Bryan Ries Obituary

MORENCI - Bryan David Ries, 32, of rural Morenci died suddenly in a tragic accident Thursday morning, March 24, 2016, doing what he loved best, at his home on the farm.

He was born March 27, 1983, in Adrian, the son of Gary Lynn and Kathy Ann (Gordon) Ries. Bryan was a 2002 graduate of Morenci High School and later earned an Associate's Degree in Theology from Calvary Chapel Bible College of Indianapolis.

His main occupation had been a dairy farmer and he was currently a partner in the family farm, Ries' Pine Ridge Dairy Farm. He attended Morenci Bible Fellowship, where he was formerly active in its youth group. He was also active in the Medina Pioneers 4-H Club.

Bryan enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, bonfires and repairing equipment on the farm. He is fondly remembered by his family by his unique sense of humor. Bryan will be sorely missed by his family and countless friends who knew him. Bryan was selfless in his wish to be an organ donor, potentially providing a gift of life to many.

Surviving in addition to his parents, Gary and Kathy of Morenci, are his sister, Tracey (Corey) DeMeritt of Adrian; nieces and nephew, Madelynn, Annabelle and Francis of Adrian; his maternal grandfather, David Gordon of Saline; paternal uncles and aunts, Larry (Sue) Ries of Tipton and Susie (Paul) Nelson of Adrian; maternal aunts and uncles, Kay (Earl) Heller of Chelsea and Phil (Judy) Gordon of Saline; several cousins; his best friend, Joe Blaker of Adrian; and his girlfriend, Kim Southard and her family of Adrian.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Doris (Finkbeiner) Gordon; his paternal grandparents, Norman and Lila (Conklin) Ries; and a paternal aunt, Nancy Harden.

A celebration of life service for Bryan will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Morenci Bible Fellowship Church (Sims Hwy.) with the Rev. Jim Yatzek officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Morenci Bible Fellowship Church and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in honor of Bryan to the Morenci Bible Fellowship Youth Group. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com.

SO sorry to hear of your terrible loss. At least, you have comfort in knowing Bryan is with our precious Lord now! I did not know him, but I am sure he was a wonderful young man!

We were absolutely devastated to hear about the tragic accident. I will always remember Bryan's warm smile and engaging stories of Bob's fledgling foray into farming at Rick's annual corn roast. He had the unique gift of making you feel welcome and a part of the country community. We have lost a very special part of our adopted farm family. Our deepest condolences to Kathy and Gary and everyone whose lives were touched by Bryan.
