Dale Chester Draper

1928 - 2017

JASPER - Dale Chester Draper, age 89, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Heartland at ProMedica in Sylvania, Ohio.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Hillman, Mich., to Chester and Ruth (Barton) Draper. On July 6, 1942, he married Martha A. Nichols in Hillman and she preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2013.

Dale proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from December 1945 until November 1947. He worked for Jones Transfer, driving truck for many years. Dale and his wife, Martha, enjoyed traveling and camping in their fifth wheel and spent 25 winters in Florida together before her passing. Dale also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's numerous school activities and sporting events and enjoying many rides on his motorcycle.

Dale is survived by his son, Mark (Sandra) Draper of Ottawa Lake, Mich.; daughter, Donna Lynn Rish of Elizabeth City, N.C.; four grandchildren, Scott (Tiffany) Rourke, Sarah (Troy) Capps, Stephen (Leesa) Draper and Jason Draper; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota and Paige Rourke, Garrett, Keegan and Conner Draper, and Skylar Jula, Lillian and Forrest Capps. In addition to his wife, Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Dougie Kidder.

A graveside service for Dale will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Ridge­ville Cemetery in Jasper with the Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating.
