Ella Mae (Lickley) Sheffer
Pittsford - ELLA MAE (LICKLEY) SHEFFER, age 95 years of Pittsford, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale. She was born on March 5, 1926, in Tecumseh, the daughter of Milburn H. and Lillian M. (Pickford) Preston. Ella graduated from Pittsford High School in 1943. She married Carl R. Lickly on December 21, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1963. Ella married Grandville Sheffer, Jr. on June 20, 1970 and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1994. She was a school bus driver for Pittsford Schools, retiring in 1988. Ella was a member of the Pittsford Congregational Church where she served as a Past Deaconess, attended Hudson Senior Center and Freedom Farm Seniors. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and playing bingo.
Surviving are two daughters, Carlene (Steven) Strachn of Pittsford and Joyce (Ken) Kisner of Pittsford two sons, David (Carolyn) Lickly of Edon, Ohio and John (Nancy) Silbernagel, two step daughters, Wavalene (Wilfred) Lang of Hillsdale, and LuAnn (Larry) Lehman of Osseo, two step sons, Harold (Sherrie) Sheffer of Osseo and Carl (Doralee) Sheffer of Hanover, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Ella was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, two sons, Dennis and William Lickly, a granddaughter, Kimberly Lickly, four sisters, Phyllis Mason, Betty Barnett, Mary Belle Swain and Betty Barnett, six brothers, Lawrence, Stanley, Fred, Glenn, Delbert and Franklin Preston.
Funeral Services for Ella will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Terry Bobzien officiating. Burial will follow at Burt-Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, August 2, 2021 and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. I have wonderful memories of Ella Mae when we both lived at Hill Top apts. My sincere sympathy to everyone who lived her.
