Joseph Weaver Obituary

ADRIAN - J. (Joseph) Bruce Weaver, age 71, entered into Heaven on April 8, 2018, at Heartland of ProMedica in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Hillsdale, Mich., to Glenn Jerline and Pauline Iva (Hooper) Weaver. Bruce grew up in Jerome, Tecumseh and Adrian, graduating from Adrian High School with the Class of 1966. After graduation, Bruce attended Owosso College in Owosso, Mich.
In 1969 he married Carol Lue Glaser. Early in their life together Bruce and Carol Lue lived in East Lansing/Lansing, Mich., and Elgin/South Elgin, Ill. It was during their time in Elgin that Bruce completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in human relations from Judson College and worked at Lee Wards, Sohn Linens and for the city of Elgin.
The couple moved back to Adrian where they have lived for nearly 40 years. During this time, Bruce drove trucks and was an instructor for International Truck Driving School and Owens Community College. He also drove charter buses for several companies and served as the safety director, trainer and driver for GETAWAY Tours and Charters for 25 years.
He was a member of Adrian Friends Church, Community Methodist Church in South Elgin, Ill.; Trenton Hills United Brethren Church and First Presbyterian Church of Adrian. Bruce loved nothing more than his Lord and Savior, helping others and spending time with his family and friends.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Lue; sons, Jeffrey (Jamie) Weaver of Battle Creek and Jason Weaver of Manistee; brothers, Glenn Leonard (Judy) Weaver of Harrison and Paul (Mary) Weaver of Findlay, Ohio; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his brother, Lawrence Weaver.
Funeral service for Bruce will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Wagley Funeral Home with the Rev. Sarah Ross, Dr. Ellen McGormley and the Rev. Dean McGormley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Contributions in memory of Bruce are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church for their renovations. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.wagleyfuneralhomes.com.
