Kingsley Tompkins Obituary

HUDSON - Kingsley Anne Tompkins went to be with the angels on Nov. 30 at Shands Hospital in Gainsville, Fla.

Even though Kingsley's family mourns the loss of her, her family was able to think beyond their pain and selflessly allow Kingsley to provide a second chance for children's research professionals by organ donation. Kingsley's family has taken the time to share with us a glimpse into the joy and happiness that she brought to everyone with whom she touched.

Kingsley came into this world at her own pace and made a bold statement as a 10-pound baby girl. Her family celebrated the nearly six years they enjoyed with her on her sixth birthday, Friday, Dec. 4. Kingsley had a knack for making everyone around her smile and that was very visible as a toddler being pushed through the aisles of a grocery store, waving to strangers, smiling, and saying, "Hi!" The arrival of Kingsley's little brother, Tyler, now 4 years old, introduced a new dynamic and allowed Kingsley to become mommy's special helper. She loved to help around the house with chores and cooking and was a cautious soul, always seeking her mommy's blessing before taking what she saw as a risk.

Her bond with her brother, Ty, was a special one and she would politely correct him, that he should call her "Sissy" and not by name - a special privilege granted only to her brother, Tyler. Like all brothers and sisters close in age, Kingsley and Tyler had their fair share of battles, which sometimes included Kingsley smacking Ty when mommy wasn't looking.

Kingsley loved to swim and was always comfortable and fearless in the water. She had the most beautiful olive complexion that allowed her to be tan even in November. People often commented on her strikingly blue eyes and sandy blond hair with highlights women would pay hundreds of dollars for. She loved to have her mommy style her hair in different braids and ponytails.

In addition to swimming, Kingsley loved gymnastics and even had a sweet, little, muscular and toned body to show for it. She mastered a balance bike by her fourth birthday and was riding a bicycle without training wheels before she was 5. For a 5 year old, she had a mature heart in which she comforted her friends and one time calmed a classmate who was in tears and nervous about losing his first tooth. As a kindergartner at Queen of Peace Academy in Gainsville, Kingsley fully and faithfully believed in Christ and all the good that He brings us, often reminding mommy, "God is good all the time."

She displayed an eager curiosity for learning about Christ and His work as well as her school subjects taught by the teachers she adored. Kingsley also loved singing in the cherub choir at Queen of Peace.

Kingsley leaves behind her mother, Tracy; her brother, Tyler; her maternal grandmother, Mary Lou Baglia; and special friend, Ellen Mooney. The family wishes to thank those who prayed so hard for Kingsley's recovery.

Kingsley's family asks that you please take a moment of silence to honor Kingsley Anne Tompkins and those blessed to receive the gift of life from her. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson. Family and friends may send condolences to the family at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com.

Saw her heartfelt, beautiful memorial video on YT. Wanted to learn more. And yes I could see the special Sister - Brother bonding in Kingsley's video; with she and Tyler. I thought ahead to Tyler at a later date looking back. I never had a sister. Wish I did. Thanks for the blessings Kingsley gave.
