John Jensen Obituary
He was born in Lewistown in 1964. John attended school in Lewistown and graduated from Fergus High School in 1982. He obtained a BS from MSU Bozeman in 1991. He started his own computer business. His love was working with computers and helping anyone out with their computer needs. He was elected for a term as county commissioner in 2005 and enjoyed his time in public service. He ended up back in the computer field at Lewistown Public Schools and continued working in the computer department until his disease forced him to retire.
John was an excellent marksman with his pistol and typically took home top honors in the Sheriff's Posse pistol shoot. He played cowboy polo with the Sheriff's Posse and really had a wonderful time participating in the field day events. John had the wonderful experience of being part of the choir for America's Youth In Concert, 1980, as a tenor. The group traveled, performed and recorded a record. Singing was a large part of John's life. He enjoyed singing in the Methodist church choir, the community Cantada and singing with his daughters. He also played the guitar beautifully. Being with family was John's happy place and loved just being with them. Visiting with people came easy to him and enjoyed conversing with all people. John was a member of the Methodist Church, Friendship Lodge, Heath Rural Volunteer Fire District, Fergus County Sheriff's Reserves, and the Fergus County Sheriff's Posse.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Betty Jensen. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Dayna VandenBos (Willy) and Erin Knerr (Riley); grandchildren, Brinley and Boone VandenBos, and Kasen and Kade Knerr; brothers, Paul Jensen (Jen) and Mike Jensen (Wendy) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 10, 2026, 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in John's honor can be made to the Helmsley Cancer Center at CMMC or the Benefis Sletton Cancer Institute.
