Steven Lynn Phillips, 64, passed away October 11, 2025 peacefully with the love of his life by his side as a result of a battle with cancer. He was born on October 17, 1960 to George Lee and Shirley Ann (VonLindern) Phillips of Lewistown, Montana.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents George and Shirley Phillips. Steve is survived by his brothers, Scott Phillips of Lewistown, MT and Jay (Shyla) Phillips of Lynnwood, WA; the love of his life, Debbie (Steele) Phillips of Lewistown; daughter, Amanda Phillips (Dan) Edwards of Hilger, MT; son, Andrew Phillips of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Skyler Creighton, Rylee Phillips, Aubrey Edwards, and Brynlee Edwards; brothers-in-law, DuWayne Steele (Mui) and Dean Steele (Cara); and in-laws Bill and Marilyn Steele.
Steve was married to Debbie Steele while serving in the Army in Hawaii in 1981 and they renewed their vows at their 10-year anniversary. Steve was blessed with the birth of his beloved children with Andrew Phillips in 1984 and Amanda Phillips in 1987.
Steve graduated from Fergus High School in Lewistown in 1979. He then joined the US Army under a delayed entry program that took him to Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 1980 for basic training. He then was transferred to Fort Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, Camp Humphreys in South Korea, and Fort Ord in Salina, California. He was discharged with honors in August 1983 and returned to Lewistown, Montana.
After landing back in Lewistown, Steve worked a short time for Fergus County Road Crew driving a gravel truck. He then went to work at Reese Tire and Fuel as a mechanic and fuel truck driver from 1983 to 1993. Steve then started his last career change to Hi-Heat Industries in 1993. At Hi-Heat Industries, Steve worked as Production Supervisor, Plant Manager, Director of Administrations, and CEO. He worked there until the time of his passing.
He was a lifetime member of the TOCICO, Theory Of Constraints International Certification Organization. Through this organization he earned a certificate for TOC Application Expert Program in Operations and Distribution Management. He also served as chairman of the Lewistown JESC for four years.
Steve's outside interest where hiking to enjoy the outdoor scenery, camping, hunting, fishing, firewood cutting and most enjoyable was just simply sitting around a campfire at the cabin in the Little Snowy Mountains with the love of his life, family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Creel Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 21st, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to CMMC Hospice.
