Alice Jean Dreher

Alice Jean Dreher, 98, of Lexington, Neb., passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington.

Alice Jean was born on March 11, 1927, at her parents' home in Iroquois County, Ill., to James Thomas and Susan Catherine (Elbert) Leggott. Alice Jean was the sixth of nine children.

She attended grade school at Leggottville, a rural school in Clifton, Ill., and moved with her family to Nebraska in 1935.

In Nebraska, she attended a rural school through the eighth grade and graduated in 1945 from Elwood High School. Alice Jean was baptized on September 9, 1940, at the Elwood Christian Church, where she was a faithful member and active in the work of the church.

While attending Elwood High School, Alice Jean met Dale Dreher, and their journey through life began. They were united in marriage on July 27, 1946, in Norton, Kan. To this union, three children were born: Robert, Nancy, and Steven. Dale and Alice Jean ultimately made their home in Nebraska, living in Elwood, Lexington, and Johnson Lake.

Alice Jean began her career in 1970 at the Gosper County Courthouse, where she became a Deputy County Clerk and later County Clerk. She retired in December of 1986.

In her free time, Alice Jean enjoyed being with her family, gardening, canning, reading, genealogy, and making scrapbooks.

She also enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas.

In 2012, she and Dale moved to Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington, where she resided until her passing.

Alice Jean is survived by her children, Robert (Carole) Dreher of Kearney, Nancy (Edd) Lange of Calabash, N.C., Steven (Alex) Dreher of Omaha; grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Kugler of Lincoln, Jodi (Alec) Shea of Laramie, Wyo., Ryan Lange of Lusby, MD., Robyn Lange (Rich Thrush) of Jersey City, N.J., Mary Dreher (Kyle Whitehead) of Omaha, and Michael Dreher of Omaha; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Kugler, Rowan Shea, Soren and Anders Thrush; a brother, Donald (Alice) Leggott of Lincoln, as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; sisters, Evelyn Puls, Anna Mae Wade, Doris Saulsbury and Eldora Synovec; brothers, Sherle, James, and Billy Leggott; sisters-in-law, Beth Leggott and Maxine Leggott; brothers-in-law, Leonard Puls, Frank Synovec and Ed Saulsbury.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Chaplain Lonna Grabenstein from Brookstone Home Health and Hospice officiating.

Burial will follow at the Elwood Cemetery.

Per Alice Jean's requests, there will be no visitation or open casket at her service.

To honor her memory, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice or to the family for later designation.

Alice Jean was a friend of my mom, Mary Owens. They had lots of laughs together over many decades. As a kid, I remember her son, Bob, and want to share condolences with him and all of Alice Jean's family. Fun lady. Mary Lou Owens Howell
