Maxine Feddersen Obituary

Maxine Feddersen

September 15, 1921 - November 18, 2025

Betty Maxine Feddersen, age 104, entered the Heavenly Kingdom of our Father on November 18, 2025. She was born on September 15, 1921, in Buffalo, Nebraska, the seventh of ten children born to William and Effie (Wood) Koehn, growing up in a lively household of twelve.

Maxine often fondly recalled her childhood in an old five-room farmhouse with a wide porch stretching across the east side-her favorite place to sleep during warm summer nights. Life was simple but rich: the family kept warm with a wood- or coal-burning stove, and stayed cool by opening the windows and letting the Nebraska breeze drift in.

She attended Buffalo School District 44 through the eighth grade and, demonstrating her determination and love of learning, proudly earned her GED from Cozad High School at age 40.

On May 8, 1940, Maxine married the love of her life, Donald Eugene Feddersen. Together, they raised two sons, Gary Lee and Thomas Eugene, while farming for many years in the Buffalo area, later in Miller, and eventually settling in Cozad. Don worked at Monroe's, while Maxine spent time at Evans Bakery before joining F&S Sausage Company, where she dedicated 21 years of loyal service.

Maxine had a heart for giving and community. She volunteered at Southview Rest Home in Cozad for 13 years. After moving to Lexington, she continued sharing her gifts as a longtime volunteer at Park Avenue Estates, where she joyfully played piano for countless activities and gatherings.

Music was one of Maxine's greatest joys. She played the piano beautifully by ear-a rare gift she continued sharing until just a few weeks before her passing. She also loved playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and creating crafts, hobbies that reflected her sharp mind and creative spirit.

Preceded in death by both parents; eight siblings, Dorothy, Lois, Milo, Earl, Clarence, Ernest, Glenrose, and Carolyn; her husband, Don; her son, Gary; and granddaughter, Ronda Ramirez.

Maxine was survived by her brother, William "Bill" Alan Koehn of Lexington, Nebraska; her son, Thomas "Stoney" Feddersen of Kearney, Nebraska; her granddaughter, Amy (Rob) Mendoza of Kearney, her grandson, Andrew (Casey) Feddersen of Kearney, grandson, Anthony (Gina) Feddersen of Oxford, Michigan; and granddaughter, Lori Sabin (Terry Beeson) of Quinlan, Texas.

She is also survived by the following great-grandchildren, William Feddersen, son of Andrew and Casey Feddersen; Jackson, Avery, and Reese, children of Anthony and Gina Feddersen; Jesse (Autumn) Ambler, Abby (Kendall) Clark, and Zach (Stacey) Schwarz, Children of Amy Mendoza; and Jeremy (Amy) Feddersen of Cozad, Nebraska; Sean (Abby) Sabin of Gothenburg; and Kaitlyn (David) Smith, of Gothenburg, all children of Lori Sabin.

Her great-great-grandchildren include, Jed and Noa, children of Jesse and Autumn Ambler of Gothenburg; Karter and Kamryn, children of Abby and Kendall Clark of Pleasanton; Colt and Easton, children of Zach and Stacey of Kearney; Zoey and Charly Feddersen, children of Jeremy and Amy Feddersen of Cozad, Jackson Earll and Dawson Ostergard, children of Sean and Abby Sabin of Gothenburg, and Erin and Wade Smith, children of Kaitlyn and David Smtih of Gothenburg.

She lived a long, full, and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and kindness. Her legacy of love, generosity, and resilience will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.

Regretfully I was never fortunate enough to know Maxine, but my sympathy go out to all the family for her loss, she must have been a heck of a great lady.
I went through high school with Stoney dating my next door neighbor. Lots of fond memories.
