Michael Davis Obituary

Michael Davis

December 13, 1960 - July 5, 2025

Michael D. Davis, 64, of Lexington, Neb., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones July 5, 2025.

Born on December 13, 1960, in Overton, Neb., Mike was one of 11 siblings in a close-knit family that shaped the generous, loving man he became.

From a young age, Mike was full of energy and curiosity. He had a deep love for history and a passion for athletics, excelling in track, football, and basketball. His speed on the track earned him numerous records, and his love for running stayed with him throughout his high school career, often running the stretch between Overton and Elm Creek just for fun and the challenge.

Mike had a sharp sense of humor and a reputation as a good-natured prankster, keeping his siblings and classmates on their toes with his antics. That playfulness carried into his adulthood, always bringing light and laughter to those around him.

More than anything, Mike cherished his family. His wife and children were his greatest joy and his guiding purpose. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. Family vacations were often centered around his favorite pastimes, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mike found peace in nature and joy in passing these traditions on to his children and grandchildren.

Mike dedicated over 30 years of his life to his work as an electrical contractor, proudly owning and operating his own business. Known by many as "Sparky," he built a reputation for integrity, skill, and hard work that earned the trust of his clients and community alike.

He was a selfless man with a heart full of kindness, never hesitating to help others, even if it meant giving the last few dollars in his wallet to a stranger in need. Mike also had a special bond with his beloved dogs, Knox and Sheba, treating them with the same unconditional love and care he gave to his family.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Davis, of Lexington, Neb.; his children, Tim (Brandon Dennis) Davis, of Omaha, Neb., Nichole (Alex) Jones, of Le Mars, Iowa, Tedi Davis, of Lexington, Neb.; and honorary daughter, Jamie (Ryan) Peterson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Domonic, Landon, Zoey, Hayden, and Alexis; and Jamie's children, Ashton and Madison Libby. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill Davis of Springfield, Mo., Jerry Davis, of Overton, Neb., and Kerry (Karen) Davis, of Castle Rock, Colo.; four sisters, Cayla (Creig) Anderson, of Centralia, Mo., Dee Ann (Rod) Nickel, of Elm Creek, Neb., Jody (Roger) Teeters, of Overton, Neb., Sherry (Dennis) Hageman, of Overton, Neb., and Chris (Marc) Sweet, of Johnstown, Colo.; his fur babies, Sheba and Sophie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosella Davis; brothers, Jim and Jack Davis; mother- and father-in-law, Maxine and Donald Carlson; brother-in-law, Tom Carlson; niece, Shannon Aguire; and nephew, Bradley Teeters.

Mike will be remembered as a man of unwavering love, deep loyalty, and a playful spirit. His memory will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared by his family, and the many lives he touched with his kindness and strength.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ALS Association at als.org or to the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Neb. Mike was steadfast in his support of ALS research and the search for a cure, and the family hopes to continue that mission in his memory.
