DELPHOS -- Alice M. Bonifas, age 95, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Hearth and Home, Van Wert.
She was born February 23, 1929, in Delphos to the late Aloysius and Clara (Mueller) Kimmet. On May 28, 1949, she married Arthur D. Bonifas who survives in Delphos and the just recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Alice is survived by her sons, Jerold (Patricia) Bonifas and Steven (Carla) Bonifas both of Delphos; daughters, Mary Louise (Ronald) Niemeyer of Ottoville, Susan (Kevin) Sigler of Continental and Laura (Ted) Brenneman of Van Wert, her daughter in law Roxy Bonifas of Columbus Grove; a sister, Barbara Hohlbein of Maumee; sister-in-law, Jane Kimmet of Delphos; brother-in-law, Harold Liebrecht; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Louis Bonifas, a great granddaughter, Scarlett Bonifas, her brothers, Carl (Margaret) Kimmet, Joseph(Betty) Kimmet and Arnold Kimmet; sisters, Helen Liebrecht and Emma Rose Kimmet; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Hohlbein.
Alice was a farmwife and took care of the family. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the former Catholic Daughters of America. Alice enjoyed sewing, gardening, and preserving. Most of all she loved having all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren out to the family farm for cookouts and annual campouts.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Tony Vera, officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Parish Foundation or to the donor's choice.
