KALIDA - Allen M. Schroeder, 65, of Kalida, died at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born April 21, 1958 in Lima to Rudolph and Lucille (Wehri) Schroeder. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Glandorf. On June 2, 1984, he married Christine Erhart and she survives in Kalida.
Other survivors include three children: Nikki (Ryan) Birkemeier, Renee (Jasen Ollivier) Schroeder and Tyler (Amber) Schroeder all of Kalida; eight grandchildren: Hayden, Grayson, Carson and Kobyn Birkemeier, Trey Dettrow, Griffin Dettrow, Branton Keirns and Levi Schroeder; five brothers: Richard "Dick" (Sue) Schroeder, Joseph (Deb) Schroeder, David (Deb) Schroeder, Steve (Jan) Schroeder and Roger (Jenny) Schroeder, all of Glandorf; and a sister, Rose Ann (Gene Blanton) Stone of Alvada; and his beloved fur babies: Sophie and Rosie.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bryce Dettrow.
Allen loved his job as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society, Kalida Fish and Game, Kalida K of C and Carpenters 372, Lima. Allen was a man of all trades. He enjoyed camping, playing cards and being ornery. He always had a wisecrack and wore a crooked smile on his face. Allen loved his family and friends.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m.
