Barbara Roeder Obituary

MAINEVILLE -- Barbara C. Roeder, 95, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, surrounded by the love of her nephew and niece at Otterbein in Maineville, Ohio.

She was born July 21, 1929, to Foster and Lureta (Burden) Gossard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Robert E. Roeder in 2005, her brother, Clinton N. Gossard in 2014, and nephew, Steven J. Gossard in 1963.

Barb's passion truly was children. She was a mother figure for her nephew (Tony) and niece (Kim), and grandmother figure for their children. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and gardening. She made her own clothes but preferred making clothes for the family she loved so much. She retired from Harriet Beauty Shop to care for her mother. She and her clients exchanged recipes, and they always showered her with gifts during the holidays. She had a strong faith in God and attended Grace Baptist Church for over 50 years. At 94 she could be seen in her yard and gardens weeding, mowing and even wielding an axe to remove a tree root.

Barb had a joyous spirit and love for family and friends. Everyone that knew her loved and admired her. She always had a listening ear, a warm smile and a heart for others. She will be remembered for her love of life, nurturing spirit, appreciation for nature and selfless kindness to others. Despite living with Alzheimer's for the last few years, we never lost the essence of our beloved Aunt. Her spirit shined through in laughter, stories, generosity, and love. We are comforted knowing that Aunt Barb knows who Aunt Barb is again.

Survivors include a nephew, Tony N. Gossard (Greg Emery) of Cincinnati; a niece, Kimberly A. (Steve) Ewan of Cincinnati, sister-in-law, Shirley A. Gossard of Cincinnati, great nephews/nieces Ryan Hussey, Emily Gossard (Neal Eikenberry), Stephen (Brooke) Gossard, Molly Gossard, Mitchell Gossard, and Nicholas (Megan) Ewan, one great-great niece/nephew Madalyn Hussey and Luke Hussey, and her best friend of 85 years, M. Arline Mullenhour.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
