On 12 May I received the news of the passing of my good friend and sometimes compatriot Dr Bruce Maccabee. For four years we lived in the same general neighborhood of Washington DC, he at White Oak and me at Fort Meade. We had several adventures together including having our luggage rifled at the Dayton MUFON Symposium
and hours and hours of trying to make sense of the Golf Breeze photographs.
To top off my friendship and relationship with Bruce I had the distinct pleasure of presenting him with MUFON’sExcellence in Ufology Award on7 August 2009.
His friendship and counsel will sorely be missed. Fair winds and following seas my dear friend.

Dr. Bruce Maccabee was a wonderfully intelligent and interesting man. My husband and I loved to watch him on any show he appeared on, waiting to hear what he had to say with baited breath. Even though we never met him in person, we admired him just the same. We are saddened to hear of his passing and he will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences to his wife, family and friends.

I am very sad to hear about our loss of the wonderful man and scientist Dr. Bruce Maccabee. I send my heartfelt sympathy to his family from New Hampshire. I bet Dr. Maccabee is now in a wondrous place where he can explore and study more mysteries than any of us thought possible! As a veteran of the U.S. Navy and and having had a lifetime of experiences with the UFO phenomenon Dr. Maccabee gave credence to the UFO subject and thereby helped me to realize that many of us are not delusional and that a qualified scientist has spoken for us for many years. Thanks so much Dr. Macabee and hopefully your family will meet with you in the next wondrous world! Most Sincerely, Hans Kristoph Hildebrand in New Hampshire.

My heart goes out to Jan and Bruce's children for the loss of a very unique and giving individual. Bruce headed up the Fund for UFO Research (FUFOR) when I met him and I was sitting in on their meetings. I was starting to date Rob Swiatek at the time, and when we tied the knot, Bruce played piano at our wedding. A physicist, ufologist and unparalleled musician -- he had many talents. He gave generously of his time and knowledge to investigators and UFO witnesses alike. He has his final reward in the next adventure. Bruce was much loved and will now go softly into this good night.
