LIMA -- Bryant Stewart Allen, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio. He was born on May 19, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, to Ralph and Nettie (Campbell) Allen. He attended Beavercreek High School and Xenia Central High School, graduating in 1954. Bryant served as an Aircraft Machinist's Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958, and in the active reserve from 1958 to 1962.
Bryant met Carol Witte while they were roller skating. Carol, wanting to make her current boyfriend jealous, noticed Bryant - dressed in black jeans and a white t-shirt with cigarettes rolled up in his sleeve - and found him perfect. The two married on October 7, 1961, and shared 45 years together until Carol's death on January 7, 2007.
Bryant spent the majority of his career, 35 years, working at American Trim (formerly Superior Metal Products), retiring in 2006. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including building RC aircraft, reading, watching movies, dancing, riding motorcycles, and roller skating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his siblings: Ralph Allen Jr., Mildred "Millie" Carson Brown, Robert "Bob" Allen, Dorothea "Dottie" Corrigan, Lareta "Rita" Kiser, and Mary Helen Dando. He was also preceded by his grandson, "Jammer."
Bryant is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Pamela) Allen of Houghton, MI; daughters Michelle Allen of Wilmington, NC, and Aimee Bucher (Montserrat) of Lima, OH; and his seven grandchildren: Hayley (Chase), Collin, Sean, Aerica (Courtney), Xavier, Eli, and Toby, as well as one great-granddaughter, Josie.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Shawnee Chapel, located at 1170 Shawnee Road, Lima, OH 45805. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at 12:00 PM.
