CHARLES F. MORRIS
DESHLER — Charles F. Morris, 91, of rural Deshler, Ohio died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at The Meadows of Leipsic.
He was born September 6, 1926, in Henry County to Freeman and Bertha (Schwartz) Morris. On December 15, 1949, he married Mary (Ritter) Morris and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2014.
Charlie graduated from Hamler High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 41 years as a telegraph operator with B & O and CSX Railroads, retiring in 1985. He was also a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of the former Belmore United Methodist Church and currently attended the Zion Church of God, Hamler. He was a member of Warren L. McIntire American Legion Post #262, Hamler and Leipsic VFW. He cherished his family and was blessed to enjoy his many grandchildren for so many years.
He is survived by his children: Dennis (Donna) Morris; Barbara Tietje; Debra (Dean) Volkman; Sue (Robert) Spallinger; 15 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 7 step great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Diana and Dawn Volkman; Jason Tietje; son-in-law, Ronald "Butch" Tietje; and sisters, Nora Spitnale and Virginia Morris.
Services are 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with Pastor Jerry Cooke officiating. Graveside Military Honors will follow in West Belmore Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Donor's Choice.
