Constance Miller Obituary

PIQUA — Constance J. "Connie" Miller, 88, passed away on September 6, 2021. She was born April 5, 1933 in Covington to the late Hubert L. and Helen I. (Mohler) McMaken. Connie was a graduate of Piqua Central High School, where she was proud to be the mascot of the Piqua Indians. She later worked for a short time as a reservationist for TWA, before marrying Glenn C. Miller on May 24, 1953 in Piqua; he preceded her in death April 8, 2009.

Connie and Glenn raised two children, Mike and Terry, first in Dayton and Vandalia, and then after 1962 in Texas. She enjoyed spending time with their NASA friends, many who became like family. Connie was an excellent home maker and the couple enjoyed building and decorating homes. Upon retirement and moving back to Piqua in 1983, Connie was very active as a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered with God's Table. She was also instrumental in bringing hospice care into Upper Valley Medical Center after Glenn's death in 2009. Always dressed to the nines, Connie loved shopping, as well as gardening and arranging flowers, reading, and caring for her beloved pets. She had a sweet tooth and was known to take Sunday drives to dairy barns for an ice cream cone (for both the humans and dog). Connie looked forward to every Thursday she spent with her Lunch Bunch and cherished the laughter and companionship "the girls" shared. She was a life-long learner and loved studying the Bible, history and genealogy, and became passionate about politics in her golden years.

She is survived by her two children, Michael (Leslie Simon) Miller of Houston, Texas, Terry (Elliott) Pew of Boerne, Texas; four grandchildren, Erin (Joe) Skalak, Henry Miller, Ben (Heather) Pew, Jennifer (Dave) Cohodes; and seven great grandchildren, Doug, Charlie, Atlas, Quentin, Madison, Max and Maverick.

Friends are invited to a service to honor her life which will begin at 1:00 p.m on September 18, 2021 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kazy Hinds officiating followed by a brief reception at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

I´m so sorry to hear of the passing of Connie. She was an awesome individual and over all the years we saw her at Barclay´s we enjoyed great conversations. It was truly an honor for all of us being able to form not only a business but personal relationship with both Connie and Glenn. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
