LIMA -- Craig L. Somers, 79 of Lima, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born on November 24, 1946 in Lima, to the late T. Burton and Frances {Downey} Somers.
On March 4, 1968, he married Jeanne {Shaw}, who survives in Lima. They shared 57 wonderful years together. Craig graduated from Lima Senior in 1964. He worked at Dana Corporation for over 30 years and was a Lieutenant for the Spencerville Police Department. He was a member of South Side Christian Church and was an avid Ohio State fan.
In addition to his wife, Jeanne, he is survived by his children, Karen (Brant) Burnfield, Keith (Krystle) Somers, and Brian Somers; grandchildren, Devon Burnfield, Mallory Burnfield, and Zachary Somers; brothers, Larry (Cheri) Barnes and Rick (Linda) Somers; step-grandchildren, William (Cassidy) Hasting and Connor (Jessica) Hall; and step-great-grandchildren, Jude Hasting, Asher Hall, and Avery Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Etta Shaw. He is also now reunited with his beloved cat, Angel.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at South Side Christian Church, Lima. Rev. Todd Cosart will officiate. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.
