HARROD — David D. Prater, age 59, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 7:48 P.M at his residence.
He was born on December 16, 1961 to the late Wayne and Leatrice (Williams) Prater.
Surviving are two brothers: Dennis Prater of Lima and Fred (Myndy) Prater of Texas; and a sister: Zora (Dave, dec.) Keasler of Harrod. He was a big brother and mentor to Chad Williams and Ben Hardesty.
David was contracted by Allied as a security guard. He worked at the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center as an officer and supervisor for nineteen years. David loved mentoring kids. He was a 1980 Lima Senior High School graduate. David liked gardening and loved all pets.
It was David's wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I'm so sorry to hear of David's passing, i always loved talked to him and his mom Lee ,when they shopped at Sam's Club. He will be missed !! Prayers to family and friends for peace and comfort at this sad time.

That picture is exactly how I remember him!!
I feel bad that I didn’t even know he was still in Lima! I so want to connect with past friends! This makes me sad!
A memory I have:
Our Senior trip to Kings Island I had to drive down after work! “My girls” went down earlier!
By the time I got there most of my friends were at the opposite end of the park!
I kept missing them back & forth!
Dave stayed with me, even rode a couple rides with me, until I finally met up with the girls! A stand up guy in my book from that moment on!! ❤
I hope he passed peacefully!!
