LIMA — Dayna Renee Mangas, 34, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Dayna was born on February 3, 1987 in Lima, Ohio to Dale Shreves and Crissie (Feldman) Shock. She married Taft Mangas on June 9, 2016 in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and then validated their marriage at St. Gerard's Catholic Church by Fr. Jim Szabonya and he survives in Lima. Also surviving is her mother Crissie (BJ) Shock of Wapakoneta, Ohio; children: Caitlyn Wagoner and Matthew Miller; paternal grandmother who raised her Nina Marchal; siblings: Tonia (Eric Summers) Childers, Jeff (Liza) Edwards, Tabitha McCrory and Neal (Kelsey) Pangle; nieces and nephews: Destiny Edens, Tayla Edens, Gracie and Chelby Childers, Kylie Reier, Cierra Florea, Campbell and Charlie Smith and Autumn Edwards; great-nephews: Aeydn, Landyn, Remington, Kaston, Ollie, Hudson and Kason; great-niece Nae'omee; father-in-law Kevin (Nancy Wagner) Mangas, mother-in- law Geri Mangas; sister-in-law Christine (Brett) Smith; cousin Jonah Cabrera and her canine companions Tazz, Joey and Annie. She was preceded in death by her father Dale Shreves, brother Cody Shreves, nephew Jared Shreves, grandparents: Norma and Guenter Immel and Ed Marchal and grandmother in-law Annie Myrtle Campbell.
Dayna began her career helping others as an STNA and then became an LPN, she graduated as a Register Nurse from Rhoades State College, finishing her schooling while battling cancer and last month passed her State Nursing boards. She enjoyed working with the elderly at the Cridersville and Elmcroft Nursing facilities. She was a member of the St. Gerard's Catholic Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles, painting, travelling with her husband Taft and a good glass of wine. Dayna was a strong-willed individual who would help anyone in a time of need. Throughout the time with cancer, Dayna was a warrior, she was resilient and always put others before herself, she helped take care of her niece and her contagious smile would brighten anyone's day.
Visitation for Dayna will be on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home, 506 N. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805, where a time of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 PM. Dayna's Mass of Resurrection will be on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb Rd., Lima, Ohio 45801, which will be livestreamed on the Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home Facebook page.
Memorial contributions may be gifted in Dayna's honor to Ohio SPCA or to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
