PHOENIX, AZ -- Deborah Kay Talbert, age 69, departed this life on May 24, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona following a brief illness. Deborah was born April 6, 1955 to the union of Samuel Talbert and Rosemary Talbert Griffith who proceeded her in death.
Following her graduation from Lima Senior High, Deborah proudly served her country by enlisting in the Army from 1973 until 1978. Upon completing her tour of duty she continue serving her country and fellow veterans by working for the Department of Veteran Affairs. As a dedicated federal employee, Deborah continued to advance by accepting a position with the Federal Bureau of Reclamation in 1981 as a contract specialist where she remained until her retirement in 2011.
Deborah was a longtime member of First Institutional Baptist Church of Phoenix where she served for many years on the usher board. Her dedication to serve others continued by becoming an active Board member of the Broadway House in Phoenix which assist low-income families with affordable housing while providing community resources to ensure housing stability.
Deborah spent her retirement enjoying life. Having been an avid swimmer in her youth, she continued her love for the water by swimming almost daily, weather permitting. Anyone that knew her well knew that her favorite pastime was spent going to the Casino. It didn't matter if she went to gamble, enjoy the entertainment or simply delight in the fine cuisine the casinos had to offer, she loved the exciting atmosphere.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Hinton, two granddaughters Daeli and Phoenix and one great-grandchild Nexx. Her surviving siblings include sisters Lana Mourning and Leslie Tucker of Lima. Ohio, brothers Joseph Jones (Donna) of Phoenix, Arizona and Bruce Talbert (Christiann) of Lima, Ohio along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Deborah is proceeded in death by her sister Carol Washington, brothers James Jones, Douglas Jones and Anthony Talbert along with her life-long partner Carl Hinton.
